Aye. Last Anglo-SA series, Smith and Amla were the men to get out. Kallis had negligible impact.

I seem to recall Prince and AB scoring a few as well.

4 runs per 100 balls or so. dont know if thats such a huge difference. conversely his average has dipped a lot more than that

To the naked eye Kallis does appear to be playing more shots but he seems to do this in uneven bursts. AB, Amla and Sooky are the wickets the Aussies probably want to see fall more. Duminy has also the capacity to hurt because he can increase the tempo when his eye is in. Punter has remarked on Kallis's tendency to become becalmed at the crease in the past. I've heard a few Aussies interviewed lately who've said, perhaps surprisingly, that Sooky is the big wicket for them and they feel that when he makes runs the rest of the team tends to follow. He had a dry run in the SA leg.

Noice TO, and I think if you did it for the last 18 months, Amla's strike rate would be much better. His form over that period has been much improved in timing and consistency.

Fat Jack wasn't trying to hold a team together that had been in the throes of self-destructing in the early days, and wasn't picked sooner than he should have been, and primarily as a bowler at the start of his career either.
