Haddin?
Haddin?
and Mark W over Steve?
I didn't think even Chappell was that bitter.
I can only assume that his residual brain cells fried when he was compelled to choose Bradman.

Any SOO NSW team that doesn't include Border lacks all credibility. As for TFF, it's your funeral. Feel free to include Waugh S. Bradman may be one of the few people he's never run out so it would be churlish not to give him a chance.

lol, re the Koala's run outs. Ridiculous re Haddit inclusion. Highlights how dumb the Spivs were in not giving Gilchrist a go.

He's plenty that bitter. My surprise is that as many as half a dozen of us still consider him anywhere near that newsworthy.

He excluded Border on the basis that he played mostly for Qld.

MEW looks so out of place in that list.

I said SOO. Anyway any team that includes Mark "cruise to an easy 30 before dollying it up to midwicket" Waugh is a joke.

Re: New South Wales All-Time XI
Personally, Haddin and probably Simpson apart, I think it looks a fair team.
Like him or not, Australia owe a debt to Haddin. Without him, the 2006-07 Ashes would have been close, and not the rout it ended up as. About three time (IIRC), he rescued his country (as some call the team) from about 5-150 to potentially matchwinning scores.
And what that sort of turnaround can do - along with some crucial missed catches - I tried to explain on the "Series C" thread. Some very similar features between the two series, and not only the 5-0 outcome.
So I guess Chappell is repaying that debt. When otherwise, and by any independent standards, Brad should be nowhere near an ATG team.
Simpson has a case on the grounds of sheer flinty cussedness, at 7 or at 1. With a bit of useful legspin thrown in. But it's still hard to think of him as a "superstar".
I understand the garment-rending outrage at the preference for Mark over twin. And no doubt it's motivated 98% by jealousy and envy towards a captain of rival status and some similar qualities. But MEW was an outstanding, stylish and generally aggressive bat, which that team might be able to afford. In any case, wouldn't bear against him Chappelli's resentment towards his brother. If you see what I mean. Blame Ian, not Mark.

What I'm scratching my head about is rather:
Where's Brett Lee?
Where's Stuey MacGill?
WHERE THE HELL IS BRUCE FRANCIS?!
Ian Chappell - hang your head in shame, boy. Got it badly wrong.

Especially ahead of his twin, Dougie, Trumper and even Clarke. In any case, he’s only warming the spot for when Smith retires.

Errrum ... possibly.
I've become way too steeped in ancient history lately, I can hardly even climb out of the vat.
And so have only this vague notion of Haddin being a permanent thorn in England's side: in batting fightback after batting fightback. The unspoken man of the series.
Well, of some series.
Was it last year?
Or 2013-14.

Now TRUMPER..... NOW you're speaking my language!
And, impossible as it may be to compare eras, he'd have to be a strong contender. Considered near-immortal in the decades where he was still "in living memory". Idolised by Mailey, for one.
Can't think why ...

He scored as quickly as Viv Richards did in the days of genuinely uncovered pitches.
