What happens with Morgan when England play Ireland? FFS. Shambles. There are many better players than him as well who are not in the 30. Sales yes, but also Malan, Benham.....even that Aussie at Lancs Allenby.

TBH, Ian Bell has not had enough derision. A truly awful T20 player. Truly awful.
Re: England T20 squad - how many FFS's will there be?
Actually, i'm getting Allenby (Who plays for Leics) confused with Paul Horton. Still, they're both better than Morgan.

Both more Aussie than I'd care for......
I despair, I really do.

Re: England T20 squad - how many FFS's will there be?
Allenby is gash and Aussie. Horton on the other hand is a good player with English parents and a bogan Aussie accent. Obviously English....

Horton has been on Lancashire' books since he was 16. Probably not a T20 player but a good prospect at first class level.

He looks a decent player. Pretty correct, reasonably compact, got a few shots. He looks like one of the only decent batsmen that Lancs have.
As you say, not sure he's a T20 player though. That being the case, I'm surprised he's not in the squad.......

He's one of the better players England have produced in any format in recent years so it's not really surprising that they continue to overlook him in this format.Brass Monkey wrote:No David Sales? Strange. He's easily one of the better T20 players England have produced.

So the burning question is, who will captain the poms with no Strauss among the contenders for the WC? KP?

KP has said no as has Colly. That leaves Rob Key and Mascarenhas as players with captaincy experience, and I'd make Key short odds favourite.
Another possibility would have been Udal, but that would have meant him displacing Swann, and I don't think that's about to happen.

Is there somewhere on here I actually said that?Henry wrote:His bowling was as tight as a tick's ar*e and his field placings and clever bowling changes - FOR T20 - were successful enough for others to adopt in their formats later on.
Other than those facts, yes, his selection was a disgrace.
So you think he should captain England in T20s? FFS!
No. I didn't think so.

How dare Lever, anyway? Saj can be devastating in T20.
Plus, he's Dello's pick.

Morgan (Oirish so err ... wtf?) and no Malan .... strange!
Udal really shouldn't be in the mix at 40 (despite my post above which got Trev all atremble). BUT - having been picked, he might just edge out the other spinners - no denying he played good clever T20 cricket last season.
And a mere 1.5 hours work in the field ain't all that hard for a 40 year old.
Key to captain (not KP)
Plunkett, Wright and Harmison - F F S
Three keepers ... why?

Harmi will be whanging them down at such an incredible rate he'll be breaking their fingers left, right and centre.

Re: England T20 squad - how many FFS's will there be?
I can't see someone from outside Club England being given the job to be honest. Which doesn't leave many contenders admittedly, and all of the obvious ones have baggage from the past which means they either don't want it or the selectors might not want them. Difficult one really.JKLever wrote:Got to be Key, don't think Fred is forgiven for Fredalo just yet.
Fair enough that Strauss wasn't included if they are going on T20 record, but most of the established England players haven't got to grips with the format yet (including the $1m man KP) and it goes against the selectors' stated wish to have one captain. Perhaps they're keeping their options open in terms of replacing him before the Ashes if the WI home Test series doesn't go well. Could we be the first country to have three simultaneously appointed captains for the different formats before this season is over?
Most of the FFSers are bowlers, but that says more about our lack of resources in that area than anything else.

So we pick Bell and Morgan instead of Sales????
We pick Udal at 40, can he still walk without a zimmer?
No Khan, but in with Plunkett, and Harmison stays??
As per usual the selectors seem to have no rhyme nor reason.

Benning is a hacker pure and simple - But in his defence he'd be a better bet at T20 than Bell thats for sure!

Being ignored by a benning lover is a bit like being attacked by a man with no arms isn't it?
