Re: The US Masters
I'm certain he won a British Open in the early 90s.
Should have won last year too.

Re: The US Masters
Just googled it. Greg Norman last won the British Open in '86. In '93 he lost it in the playoff. All told, the Shark came in second on 10 different major occassions. Last year he came in second for the last time.
He wasn't married to Chris Evert then.

What? He won it in 1993.
We are talking about Greg "Shark" Norman here, right?

Sorry Paul, mea culpa. I was reading about some other major. Yes, 1993 at Sandwich it was.

Isn't there two courses there? When The Open is played it's Royal St Georges isn't it?

Re: The US Masters
Norman is the only person to have lost all 4 majors in a playoff.
Sadly, if the playoff rules had been different for the different majors he may well have won all 4. He lost the 89 Open to Calchavechhia in a 5 hold playoff have lead after 3 holes.

Aye. I still remember getting up each Monday AM to watch it (other than the Open which was really early morning).
Come to think of it, I was woofing even then - the only final round I didn't watch was The Open which the Shark won.

Re: The US Masters
Woke up early today, and not having to go to work, thought I'd get up and watch the final round.
Can someone explain why for seemingly every shot Tiger Woods plays, even his tee shot on a par five, there's some dickhead in the crowd yelling 'GET IN THE HOLE!'?
Sure, he's good, but nobody's ever managed a round of 18, I believe.

Re: The US Masters
Well it's been an exciting morning.
Tiger and Phil looked like pulling off a miracle charge only to hit the reverse gear on the last two holes.
Kenny Perry still looks like the man to beat.

Re: The US Masters
Indeed, but given that it's very, very difficult to get a ticket to the Masters, and that the club is regarded as one of the (if not the) most snobbish clubs of any sort, somewhat surprising to hear it repeatedly at Augusta.PeterCS wrote:More seriously. it just lends further force to the age-old adage:

That was a great victory by the way.
Gene Sarazen was on hand to present the Claret Jug that day and called it "the most awesome display of golf I've seen."

Kenny Perry, Chad Campbell and Angel Cabrera to go head-to-head. First 3-way tie since 1987. Mize, Ballesteros and ... Norman!

Wasn't it an Argentinian who was disqualied for signing an incorrect scorecard after the victory celebrations on the 18th?

Re: The US Masters
That was about 40 years ago. Roberto DeVicenzo signed for a 4 on one hole instead of a three. Would have put him in a play off with Bob Goalby, instead he had to settle for second place.
