The Masters Empty The Masters

Post by tricycle Sun 02 Apr 2017, 03:13

Starts Thursday. And who can stop Dustin Johnson?

Angel Cabrera, of course. He's got out of his annual hibernation in time for the Masters and found some form at the shell Houston.

I think he is fit but his Mum's not. I don't think his heart would be in it.

"After withdrawing from the WGC-Dell Match Play last week, Jason Day said on Monday that he’s not necessarily going to play the Masters either. Day withdrew from the Match Play to tend to his mother battling lung cancer .

Day’s mom had surgery at the end of last week, but he is awaiting a prognosis. "

If the situation is as was, he shouldn't play. He was in a state a couple of weeks ago.

Very much looking forward to Jon Rahm. Is on a super run, and but for Dustin Johnson, is the in form player right now.

Aye. Saw a bit of the Houston and he is in good nick. Must say the winner is a bloody great putter BUT can he putt at the Masters.

Looks like Day will play.

"Despite a recent withdrawal at the WGC-Dell Match Play, Jason Day is ready to go for Augusta National.

The No. 3 player in the world took a short break from golf as his mother had surgery in her battle with lung cancer. Now, according to Ben Everill at PGATour.com, Day is ready to return with his mother on the mend.

"For the first time in about a month and a half I was happy to be on the golf course. I was enjoying myself again," Day told Everill. "It’s been really, really hard to enjoy myself. But I think things are starting to brighten up. So it would be nice to get back on track here."

The 29-year-old Aussie has three career top 10 finishes at the Masters. Thought he admittedly hasn’t had his normal preparation for the event, he’ll still have a shot when he tees it up. "

I hope he goes OK.

Henley?

Watch out for Hatton. He is a crazy putter when on a roll.

Cheers. Just put a tenner on Hatton at 70s.

Good odds, those. Helped, of course, by the fact he's a Masters rookie.

Either way or outright?

Yeah you may as well back a rookie with no fear and nothing to lose in those conditions.

Johnson hurts back

"AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Masters favorite Dustin Johnson took a serious fall on a staircase Wednesday and injured his lower back, and his manager said it was uncertain whether the world’s No. 1 golfer would be able to play.

It was a stunning development on an otherwise quiet day at Augusta National, where the course was shut down at 1:30 p.m. because of storms.

The real calamity struck a few hours later.

David Winkle, his manager at Hambric Sports, said Johnson fell on the stairs at the home he is renting in Augusta."

That's a huge shame. Meanwhile, the par 3s also got cancelled. Very much expecting a Monday finish right now.

McIlroy hasn't got a great reputation in bad weather. Soren Kjeldsen is better at it. Check his win at Royal County Down in horrible conditions in 2015. Tyrrell Hatton sneaking in a nice fourth.
