Ahhh fook it, was looking forward to seeing him in the flesh at Lords.
Now watch Luke Wrights magnificent 5-fer get that kanute a place in the side instead...
At least the Ashes is still a goer, but would it surprise anyone if he called it a day after than series?

Triumph of greed over common sense. Don't have Sentanta so only seen a few clips of IPL on Sky but it looks as if the hard Indian tracks have exacted their toll. It seems like it's going to be a repeat of 2006 & 2008 with Freddie either absent or barely fit. Still it's an opportunity for Bopara to step up and ink his place as England's regular all-rounder. The bowling looks a bit threadbare though with Anderson & Broad as the only certainties.

Great.
Ban India.
On the positive side, at least it will force us back to the 6 batsmen, 4 bowlers and a keeper formula.

Which almost guarantees Ian Bell a place!
Cook,Strauss,Bell,KP,Collingwood - then any one of Bops,Shah,Vaughan, maybe even Samit as he can wang it down.
Then Prior at 7

And, again, underlines the sad fact that Flintoff won't ever be fit enough to be a part of a four-man attack.
He can't even get through four overs per day now.

Brokeback Freddie.....The Sequel!!!
Munaf will join him as the other 'lead'.....

That's it then. He's finished.
Thanks for 2005 and all that.

I'd prefer Foster.

Re: The Flintoff is broken again thread
I think this thread ought to be Rikkied in view of the increasing frequency of Fred's injuries.
So that'll be MPV at three and Bell at six. That'll have Merlin in ecstacies
Any chance the selectors might see sense and give Foster a game?

Yes, in the never-ending great wicket-keeping conundrum, Matt Prior and James Foster are about the only keepers in the country who aren't on fire with the bat.
Funny ol' game.
Funny ol' game.
Re: The Flintoff is broken again thread
LOL.
Just stop picking him, it's not worth relying on something that won't turn up for two-thirds of the matches.
(And isn't that good when it does turn up)

Re: The Flintoff is broken again thread
Aye, I think it's still worth wrapping him in cotton wool for the upcoming Ashes in some vain attempt at competing but after that we have to be very careful not to get into Botham syndrome where he got picked a good 4 years after he ceased to be an international standard player.
We've picked Harmison and his 40- average since 2005 so I wouldn't be all that confident all the same...
