Nuh, it was a stage announcer (and lighting expert) by the name of Chip Monck. He was in Aus recently talking about it, as I guess he has been doing for 40 years (and why wouldn't you).
The main credit for organising it goes to Michael Lang along with John Roberts (RIP), Joel Rosenman and Artie Kornfeld.
It's incredible that two of mankind's greatest peacetime achievements - "one small step for man" and Woodstock - happened in consecutive months (albeit a quarter of a million miles apart).
