There's a long way to go, but it appears that Roger Federer's pants just got a little moist.
Update: Soaked.

Let's hope he parties so hard he forgets to turn up to Wimbledon.

Federer two sets down against Tommy Haas now.
If he follows Nadal and Djokovic out of the championship, things really start opening up for Andy Murray...

And apparently if Federer goes out in this round or the Q-F's, and Murray makes at least the Semi-Finals, the Brit takes over as World Number 2.
(Should he fail to do so, he will of course remain a Scot. )

Great escape again for Federer against Haas who did everything he could but still couldn't go past Federer for the 8th consecutive time.
For only the 5th time in his career, Federer comes back from being 2 sets down.

Federer will now play the winner between Roddick and some unknown name in the QF.

How many times has Federer been down by two sets?

It's just that he's French and isn't as overhyped as Roddick or Murray or Hewitt (outside of France)

I don't think Hewitt's over-hyped anywhere. He is what he is.

I heard sports reporters on two TV stations and a sports show on radio all give Hewitt a good chance at beating Nadal at the French ...that's over hyped

No that's just sports reporters. Lleyton is a victim of sports writers who have to hype the evening bulletin.

He's also a bloke who won a couple of grand slam titles. And who's well past his prime.

To the ignorant maybe.
It's not like Monfils made the semi-finals at Roland Garros last year or anything.
Interestingly, Monfils opponent in that semi-final was Federer. Roger won in four sets.

Meh, tennis is festive. Unlike the days of yore (even up to the 80s, I reckon) many non-followers would probably have been able to name a bunch of players. Wouldn't expect the same these days.Hass wrote:Zat wrote:In tennis terms, that's an unknown.embee wrote:SG wrote:Federer will now play the winner between Roddick and some unknown name in the QF.
