Brass Monkey wrote:What?
It's :
SA
Eng
Ind
WI
NL
Ire
NZ
SL
Here's what I have:
A1 - B2 - C1 - D2
B1 - A2 - C2 - D1
Also make room for this:
(replace NL with PAK, should Pakistan win today by the required margin and make allowance for some 1/2 assumptions, in which case replace SL with WI and vice versa, also NZ with SA and vice versa.However, if the Clogs beat PAK outright, you might have to replace ENG with the Clogs)

Can't give them away so will take them along this afternoon to the ticket office at Lord's in the hope that a fanatical Indian might cough up the ante.
A-1) Modi's XI, 2) Oireland
B-1) England 2) Clogs/Paksters
C-1)Lankans 2) Calypsos1.Calypso's 2. Lankans
D-1) Saffies 2) Kiwis
right?
That makes it:
1. SA vs IRE 2. NL vs NZ 3. ENG vs WI 4. IND vs SL 5. SL vs NZ 6. SA vs ENG 7. IRE vs WI 8. IND vs NL 9. ENG vs IRE 10. NL vs SL 11. SA vs WI 12. You could also replace the country codes with the nicknames above.
E&OE
Super 8 groupings are - according to the DT this morning ...
Group E ... A1 ; B2 ; C1 ; D2.
Group F ... A2 ; B1 ; C2 ; D1.
Sunday 14th June - games , AGAIN according to the press are :
A2 (Oireland) versus C2 (Lankans)
and
A1 (Modi XI) versus B2 ( Cloggies)
Hope that makes sense.

Jim,
Cloggs cannot usurp England unless they flog the Pakistanis senseless.
WIndies have far too superior run rate than the Lankans - unless the Lankan thrash them outta sight.
Today will see whether the Saffies maintain top spot in group D ... beating the Kiwis will ensure it.
So cannot understand how you mish-mashed my prediction for the Sunday layout !

After initial reversals, Pakistan might just go on to win the World Cup.

Athers and Bumble should get the sack, so much for their 'expert' views before the match where they said Pak were destined to lose because they looked 'rusty' and the Dutch were so amazing. I'm embarrassed that the fee i pay to Sky goes towards these idiots wages.

if i understand correctly the groups are
india
england
windies
south africa
ireland
pakistan
lanka
new zealand
irrespective of the nrr
the first group easily the more difficult. india, windies and saffrica all have good chances of going all the way

There also seems to be a dispute over Afridi's bowling analysis, Sky is giving him 4-11 whilst Cricinfo is giving him 4-10. In any event his analysis is the 4th best overall in T20 internationals and second best for Pakistan (Umer Gul took 4-8 against Australia at Dubai last month) and is the best for any bowler in a T20 international held in the UK beating Baidwan's 4-19 for Canada also against The Netherlands in the match at Belfast referred to above.

MoM choices seem to be eccentric in this tournament, to say the least. England are in the group of death this time, if they get past the Saffies, India & Chris Gayle they'll be lucky.

it's only their opinion, they don't have a crystal ball. I thought the dutch would pull off the surprise too

We can beat any of SA,Ind or WI over 20 overs playing at home.

Extremely unlikely though, Lever. India and South Africa's batting has a lot more firepower than England's.

"...and Britons never, never, never, never shall be slaves"
A true patriot as always, JK, and I salute you.
and you may well be right.
Nobly, nobly Cape Saint Vincent to the North-west died away;
Sunset ran, one glorious blood-red, reeking into Cadiz Bay;
Bluish 'mid the burning water, full in face Trafalgar lay;
In the dimmest North-east distance dawned Gibraltar grand and gray;
"Here and here did England help me: how can I help England?''---say,
Whoso turns as I, this evening, turn to God to praise and pray,
While Jove's planet rises yonder, silent over Africa.
