Re: ICC World Twenty20, 2009 - Group B
Yeah that was the selection decision that convinced me that England disrespected the Dutch.
Collywobbles was clearly shell shocked that the Dutch could hit the ball off the square.
Rob Key calmy flicking singles in the last 3 overs was slightly perplexing too. He obviously felt they had enough on the board and didn't need to maximise the total.
JKLever, Yeah I know England fans get put through the mincer almost as much as West Indians do these days.

One riveting tit-bit from Collingwood is that Graeme Swann was DROPPED:"We were taking a bit of a gamble with Adil today," said Collingwood. "He's not played a lot but we thought that exposure would do him the world of good. Graeme Swann, he knows what he's all about with his offspin and the experience he brings, but a legspinner in Twenty20 cricket is certainly a wicket-taker. I guess we took a bit of a punt on Adil, he bowled exceptionally the other night, and he's certainly a player for the future. Why not put him into a game like this?"
Well done Coach, well done Captain. Graeme Swann has been in terrible form and hasn't taken many wickets. He doesn't have much Twenty20 experience whereas Adil does, so very well done.
Yeah, thought WIFAN meant fans rather than the team. Look for the whole of Andrew Millers piece on cricinfo - all of Collys interview is very telling IMO

Already read it, can't really argue with a word.
The thing is most England fans were lamenting Collingwood's captaincy in advance. He has nothing you'd want in a captain - he can't even fabricate a few injuries to save face properly.
Mascarenhas or Key would have been better captains. And I honestly think, even with the team we played last night, we'd have won just by having a decent captain. The field-settings were really poor and no-one seemed to be able to keep a cool head.

Yeah filo, we're all going to rush down to purchase our ticket for:
- a downpour
- an England defeat in a Six6 match.

I suppose that's the one good thing about 20/20, evens the playing field.filosofee wrote:World Twenty 20, the unpredictable championship!
Despite not being arsed about the IPL I have actually been enjoying this tournament thus far .

Bangladesh to 'do an Ireland' and score the needed 9 runs an over and win this match, MAYBE!

England vs Pakistan = battle of the two most capricious, or the two capricious cricket teams. Who'd risk betting on that match!

Indeed he was a swell chap until we raped him, killed him, burned him and fed him to pigs .
If you ever came on here, filo, you'd be aware of name changes. There is only one Gus and I am he.
Now, who will you be supporting tomorrow .

Pakistan. (England, against other teams and in all other sports, such as football).

I get the feeling a number of people here would be pleased to see Bangladesh meet the Netherlands in the Final.
I couldn't possibly comment.

Mixed threads all over the place.
Day of decision for England, if not for PAK.
Which Pakistan will turn up - world beaters, or the bunch inferior to Bangla and Ireland?
Come to that, which England will turn up? The crowd that lose to The Netherlands, or ... errrrm, the bunch that narrowly lose to Holland?

Bucky with his gaylove piccies again...
Unbelievably, Betfair have England as favourites as favourites for this match. This despite our horrendous T20 results and the fact Pak have won 13 out of 17 T20's - lump on....

I'd like to see Swann, Napier, Mascarenhas and KP (if fit) in to replace Rashid, Key, Morgan and Shah. I know that sounds a bit light on batting specialists, but batting specialists with a strike rate of 80 or 90 are as much use as a chocolate teapot in this format. May as well gamble on the hitters.
