FFS - stop referring to taipan as a hepurn.

Even female mud wrestling is infinitely more interesting than yet another India-Pakistan reprise of the repeated reprise Jamodi circus.skully wrote:Sage.G.Wood wrote:

the ones i really look forward to are ind-pak and ind-aus. then comes any series involving india. the rest are all much the same, with a few that have the potential of being interesting, like the last aus-saf series

in recent times the best quality and most engrossing series for cricket fans everywhere must surely have been saffies v oz
That's true, which makes it all the more disappointing they haven't played a proper 5-match series since readmission.
The series between South Africa and Australia seem to be over before they start, and back-to-back 3-test series are a poor substitute.

Unfortunately a 5 test series is impossible unless CA drops the obsession with the Boxing Day test.

Dunno about dropping the Boxing day test. But making it one continuous series instead of two seperate ones could be interesting. I've got no great attachment to the BD test but you may as well try to get Verwoerd re-elected President. It'd be easier than getting CA to drop that date.

Re: Most Popular/Important Test Series'?
The thing is you don't have to play South Africa on Boxing Day. Give Melbourne two tests one summer.
Play the one-dayers in Novermber and early December and play a one-off test against someone else on Boxing Day.
Let the Saffies host their own series against someone else in December, then play a five-test series starting in mid-January going into early March if need be.
No one likes one-off tests, but if the trade-off was a five match series against South Africa I'd take it.

India vs Aus or SA is tops now. Pak series has lost it's appeal and no more hot. It worked well as long as there was excessive hostility feeding off adrenaline to be one upto the end of the 90s.....

So, therein is the difference between the Ashes & Ind v Pak. Even whilst England have been second by a distance grounds have sold out in both countries.

ind-pak still sells out, in india at least. but it lost its intensity when we played a test series every year between 2004-2008. need a gap of at least 2 years for it to get some sort of a build-up

Modi doesn't see it that way.
It's all about the moolah ... the Ashes is about passion and expectation (even when England are crap).
There lies the difference.

last 2 IND PAK series have been very boring with only 2(out of 6) exciting test matches, the 06 series in particular was horrible until the final test match.
