Agreed.taipan wrote:If there's anything worse than a sooking loser, it's a gloating winner.PeterCS wrote:It's not a war, Rob.
Absolutely fantastic test match though, Magnificent innings by Clarke and also Haddin, genuinely had me shitting myself overnight, thankfully superfred showed up this morning.
And I suppose Strauss got it right....

Always right if you win. If Australia had sneaked a late wicket with the extra overs at Cardiff, then Ponting would have been lauded for being so brave.

Fred bowled one of the best spells of his life, Swann got a couple as well. Pretty much sums it up.Nath wrote:just got home. anyone want to give me a summary of the session?

Wouldn't bet against it to be honest, I still think Australia are the better team. Before the series started I said I would have been happy with a win in a live test, so to take the lead at Lords is more than I expected already.Invader Zim wrote:Well played England.

Should be a good series though, at least 2 more live tests.

Huzzahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, wasn't worried for a moment
Good comeback after Cardiff, well bowled Fred & Swanny, who showed what he is capable after the pies served up at Cardiff.
Now we just have to get everyone patched and jabbed up for Edgbaston, thank fook for the 9 days rest.

The ball that Swann got Clarke with today has been seriously underrated- That was a classic piece of spin bowling.

Always best to channel annoyance and frustration and sense of injustice into a controlled determination to win next time, and planning to that end. Never easy in the heat of the moment, it has to be said. So well played Ponting.

He did in the presentation as well. Good on him for that, credit where it's due.

Decades of Australian dominance in the Ashes have sunk deep wells of anger in me.

Can't see how we can take 20 wickets with Johnson in the side...vilkrang wrote:Wouldn't bet against it to be honest, I still think Australia are the better team. Maybe, if they get Clark back. Hughes has been exposed. The rest of the batting is still very capable, down to #8. England's bowling relies heavily on one man. If he gets injured I can still see Australia regaining the Ashes. But we're off to Fortress Edgbaston next, and then two slow tracks after that, so Australia have some work to do.

The commentators said as it happened that it was a great piece of bowling as it dipped on Clarke but Swann himself and Clarke said he just missed a full toss. Swann though complemented Freddie very well. It's surprising that he wasn't on a bit earlier.
Flower said that KP will be assessed during the week but it's hard to see him missing the Ashes.
Well bowled Freddie - it was an awesome spell!

Though Ponting was pretty gracious in the after match speech, fair play but that doesn't mean Punter baiting should stop being a sport!

Er?
2006/7 didn't happen. Surely you've worked that out by now?

I do find it funny how for every 100 times 2005 is mentioned, 2006/7 is mentioned maybe once.

To be fair though, that series was dull because it was so one-sided. So it's forgettable for cricket fans full stop, as well as England fans who want it airbrushed from history. 2005 was a stunning series, that's why it is remembered ahead of it.
