Reports here in Aus indicate that the curator says the Edgbaston wicket with be a seamer.

Or is this just a ploy to make us play Midge?

It'll be as dead as death.

Pretty much all the matches at Edgy this season have been bore draws on their pudding pitches.

Groundsman's already started making his excuses for what is sure to be a slow, low, lifeless piece of crap pitch.

Throw in all the rain that's forecast, and you've got all the ingredients for a "no result".

Good for England, but shit for cricket fans.

Possibly Cooley was lucky in that he was coaching England's bowlers at a time of high mint availability.

Why not Leve's ?
Don't 2 pressure knocks count anymore?
Or are you taking Broad's "all rounder" status to a new level?
Why not bat Broad at 10 ??
Strengthens the tail !!

Get in there Jimmy boy! aye-aye

Yeah, go Jimmy with your highest FC score in a whole career of 37. Whoop them Aussies good.
JK, given the way Australia's bowlers have fared recently against tail enders, Jimmy may well have his maiden Test century within the week.

Nah, you just need a good first innings score. That's where you went wrong at Lords.

Does toffee work as well as mint to keep one side of the ball shiny?

Can't win them all. Cooley helped Harmison, Jones and Flintoff to hone their games (Hoggard didn't really need any help), but completely destroyed Jimmy Anderson's action into the bargain.

Also remodelled Liam Plunkett's action - and left before he'd finished the job. The poor kid is like a little lost lamb now.

You'll be lucky. The water table at Edgy is said to be really high after taking a drowning in the past couple of weeks (and due some more wet stuff in the build up to day one).

Showers could well wipe out entire days. Which, going by that forecast, would leave precious little playing time.

Are we the West Indies now? Test cricket's in bad enough shape without one of the nations who actually still like it trying to kill it off.

I'd rather mash them into the dust, i'd still take the draws though. It's the Ashes FFS.

A drawn series would be a great result all-round. Especially for anyone who took juicy odds on one before it started.
