Nah, that's fair enough - went to have a chat with each other and came to the right decision.

125 ahead, 46 overs to go, not swinging.... we won't see Fred again today if they're sensible.

Nah - realistically, England have got 15 overs to knock over the last 6, and have a gettable rate to chase in the 4th.
No chance.

And many more 'cheeky' singles like that might not be smart thinking, even if it was Bopara fielding.

A couple of tons on offer for these two against the dross mongers later today.
Expect Alastair Cook to be given a whirl

OK, gotta log off the board now, TLE has ruled enough on the laptop, and I can't be bothered heading to the lounge.
Clarke and North to get their fifties, then fall to stupid shots within an over of each other, with the rest of Australia to get two-fifths of five-eighths of sod-all.
England to get the staggers, but to win by a wicket with one ball to spare...

Get Prior on . . . in his pads, a la Pothas under Warne's captaincy at Hants a couple of years back.
Where's Goochy to run through his repertoire when you need him?!

Handy lead Oz are building now. Would have been an interesting final day without the washout all other things being equal.

Realistically, winning the game was always the least likely option.

Aye, though you would have hoped England wouldn't have gone through the motions so early if that was the case.
Still. 1-0 up with 2 to go. Means we win 1 and we take the Ashes, and it also means we can still win the Ashes at the Oval even with a loss at Leeds - a rare thing these days.
Also the 7th test in a row Aus have failed to win in England...
Just pleased we're competing in this series what with a half fit and then dead KP and a one legged Fred!!!!
