It's Broadys turn tomorrow.

I wouldn't bowl Broad - we're trying to stop them from scoring whilst taking wickets, Broad is useful for neither. Sorry Broady, but enjoy your 98 overs in the out-field.

He'll probably get a lot of overs once it becomes clear that a result is out of the equation.
What with back-to-back Tests, I doubt Flintoff will do much work after lunch.

Yup, that's fair enough, the game will be in the balance or out of Englands reach by then.
Aus are 100.00 at Betfair, just had a sneaky couple of quid.

Could be a really exciting day, or it could be two sessions of Broad and Collingwood bowling pies.
The wonder of cricket.
The wonder of cricket.
Re: England v Australia, 3rd Test, Edgbaston, Jul 30-Aug 3 (II)
Always worth a punt with England, but 10 wickets in a max of 40 overs looks beyond this Australian attack. I have a sneaky feel that England will win tomorrow, no idea why. Not like me to be optimistic, so we'll probably stuff it up and lose now I've said it. But the Aussies seem to have a real loser's aura about them on this tour so far.

Oh, btw - Englands tail doing them proud again.
169-5 to 376 all out.
Considering how ropey the top 5 are, I can see England going with the same side again regardless of the result even with Broad opening his pie shop.
It's quite a change for England to be 5 down and being comfortable that it doesn't mean you'll be seeing the oppo openers at the crease within the hour.
Whilst we're competing I wouldn't change a thing by bringing someone else in for Broad. No need to weaken an area of the team that is functioning quite well.

And that's the lowest total Australia have bowled England out for in the series.

Which means, of course, a bit overcast to start with, until halfway between lunch and tea, when the sun will come out and the humidity will drop, removing any swing.

Aye. The only possible change (further injuries aside) that I see England making would be if the Aussies square the series at any point.
Broad would definitely be vulnerable to a swap for Harmison if England found themselves in need of a win to wrestle back the urn, but whilst we lead, no chance.

Ugh. Australia is now experiencing what it was like for the opposition when we were at our peak. Can't dismiss the tail and scratch around trying to save a game against more penetrative bowling.
This current team now seems to have a very long tail. We appear to be two wickets from oblivion. Need a big one from Paris and Pup to save us here.
Even if we bat until tea, we may only be 150 or so in front. And England would certainly have a dip at that. Need some nose to the grindstone stuff from WHI, Paris, Pup and Ollie.

Oh, and Midge is still sh!t. Must be jettisoned for Gump at Headingley. Can't wait to see what "positives" Drunky and Nielsen took from Midge's effort last night.
He tried to sledge the English bowlers and even had Swanny laughing at him. Deary me.

Well, he did - but you can't blame him for trying!
Obviously taking to heart Warne (and doubtless other)'s advice to be more aggressive. It's backfired to a point, but he did bowl a bit better. Personally, I like it he's up for a bit of aggro - I love that on-field drama.

And I can't let the Walking Hamstring Injury's 3 overs of half volleys go without mention.
FMD, how sh!t are we when the NSP opts for this clown in the XI?

Then, after a drinks break, he comes in refreshed for the coup de grace...
Watson into the attack for the first time with two slips
64.1
Watson to Flintoff, no run, wide of the off stump and left alone
64.2
Watson to Flintoff, no run, way too wide. Swings wider still
Watson bowling to his hero. He's spoken of his admiration for Flintoff in the past, particularly after 2005. Let's see if he can rattle England's favourite son
Well, let's just see if he can bowl a spell without breaking down, first
64.3
Watson to Flintoff, no run, wide of the off stump and left alone
64.4
Watson to Flintoff, no run, driven back to the bowler firmly
64.5
Watson to Flintoff, FOUR, bang! The first really authoritative shot from Flintoff, absolutely murdering it down the ground. Nothing more than a prod, but it nearly killed Prior
64.6
Watson to Flintoff, no run, wide of the off stump
Watson to continue
66.1
Watson to Flintoff, FOUR, bash! Nothing more than a defensive push, straight back through Watson's legs and it scorches for four! Flintoff doesn't move
66.2
Watson to Flintoff, 1 run, a clip off his legs for a single
66.3
Watson to Prior, 2 runs, short, and pulled - mispulled, the ball skying high but safe into the midwicket region and dropping dead on the soggy outfield
66.4
Watson to Prior, 1 run, guided out to the off side
66.5
Watson to Flintoff, no run, well wide and cutting still further wide
66.6
Watson to Flintoff, no run, much better line on the off stump, with a hint of nibble. Defended on the front foot
68.1
Watson to Flintoff, FOUR, superb off-drive. Magnificent timing and placement, it was a half-volley outside off and Flintoff cracks it wide of mid-off
68.2
Watson to Flintoff, 2 runs, angled bat down behind gully and the third man sweeps
68.3
Watson to Flintoff, 1 run, good sensible cricket here, the field was spread a bit and he's bunted it through cover for a couple
68.4
Watson to Prior, FOUR, another excellent drive, but it was also another bad ball, a low full toss that is driven beautifully through cover
68.5
Watson to Prior, no run, better length this time, left alone outside off
68.6
Watson to Prior, no run, straight-bat defence this time
End of over 69 (11 runs) England 236/5 SR Watson 3-0-23-0
Mind you, he strengthens the bowling. Perhaps by making the horribly out of form MJ look better than he really is.

Let's be fair he was there to cover for Johnsons sh!tehouseness spells. And just when Midge was in danger of getting his act together Watson came on and did a Midge impression

When I used to play Daytona Rally on my old Sega Saturn, you could make your car go a fraction of a second quicker if you crashed it first.
Handy for a tilt at the fastest lap records.
Perhaps Flintoff's like that - explains why he was trying to drown himself in the West Indies: he was just looking for that extra edge to his game.
