James Taylor
19 year old Leics batsman, already with a championship double century to his name, and a couple of 90's in the last week as well, the latest being against a Kent attack containing 3 former international bowlers.

All he has to do is call. Prevents run outs if done properly.Hass wrote:JGK wrote:Does he play in winter, spring, summer or fall?

Reason to get excited?
Reason to get frustrated actually. Taylor spent 3 years in Worcs. academy before being signed from under our noses by Leicestershire - another one slips through the net - but that's another story.
Taylor certainly has something about him - whether he's the real deal or the poor man's Ian Bell, only time will tell.

Doesn't look to have much power in his game, and is about 4ft 3

Re: James Taylor
I've been keeping an eye on him this season ever since his epic forty-odd at TB in the FP Trophy (god, it was painful), and every time he gets on a bowler-friendly pitch against a decent attack he seems to rack up the single-figure scores. But for that double-ton his first-class average would be quite modest, even with it I think he's only averaging 40-odd which, in Div Two, is hardly ground breaking. He does look a good, talented player, but his returns need to be bigger to really start getting excited about him.
Personally, I think Tom New looks a decent bet at Leicestershire if he can start converting a few 50s into 100s.

Re: James Taylor
He's put a lot of names in.
Here's the formula :
(Player < 23) OR (Player played < 20 games) + (Form = good to very good) + One headline performance = Trev creaming his knicks.

He looks like he learned his technique from the same bloke who taught Phil Hughes. Classical he is not.

Re: James Taylor
I'm a bit Stewie Griffin indifferent about him. As Shoeshine says, gash backlift - made for an inside-out technique. He'd have to make marked improvements, coz people will be after him outside off getting to play miles away from his body.
Isn't Ian Bell small Lever? Didn't you bounce on the Bell dildo for 4 years even so?
