Re: England v Australia, 2nd ODI, Lords Sep 6th
Ah come on... it'll be nice to see the Aussies win a few of these games- they've had to travel such a long way after all and it'll mean so much to them to be holding that charity shop golf trophy aloft at the end of this series.
I thought Brett Lee was quite splendid against Scotland the other day.

Oh and it's charming how they let a small child open the batting. I hope they don't bowl too fast at him!

I would have dropped Swann. Swann will potter about doing a solid job for a few years to come but Rashid could be something quite a bit better and this is a great series to give him exposure- the opposition are pretty good but the context is pretty meaningless.

Australia doing a good impression of an England ODI innings here - block and nudge out the powerplays, then lose a couple of wickets and slow down even more!

Am I missing something - we've dropped our most economical bowler, who incedentally, almost won the game with the bat?

I think we've got a 'northerner' quota thing going on Baz. Plus Morgan is an Middlescummer.....

The frontline batting was shoite - so their answer is to drop a bowler. It beggars belief.
Our management are totally clueless about ODIs

Well, the extra batsman was a good move, even if most of us aren't convinced Morgan is the right man. We had 7 bowlers in the last game which was totally unnecessary given the lack of front-line batting. But they've clearly dropped the wrong man, while Bresnan's done well I'd have just replaced the injured Broad with the extra batsman.Basil wrote:The frontline batting was shoite - so their answer is to drop a bowler. Anderson must not be seen as untouchable either, he's been an absolute waste of space in this series so far, or in fact since the one decent spell he bowled in the Ashes series.

Just wait, we'll win this in the final over by some fluke and the management will say their selections were justified. You just know it.

Crap over from Anderson allows them to edge up to a competitive score again.

Anderson continues to bowl rubbish. when Broad comes back i'd drop him but retain Bresnan.

Just got up (Heh!) - 250 to get then?
Anderson has bowled bilge since being called a pussy (nicking Dellos line) infact - ever since the 1st innings at Lords in the test
Looks like Bres bowled ok though.
Much in the pitch?

Johnson gets his ODI average into double figures, I can't believe he averaged 8 before this innings, for someone widely viewed as an all-rounder!
I suspect this will be too much for England unless they get off to a flyer or someone like Strauss manages to bat through. Should have bowled them out really.

Lazy bugger!
Not much in the pitch, bit of bounce, we let them off in the end.
Could be another close end again.

I was very impressed with Luke Wright's bowling until his last over. Maybe he can develop into a useful ODI/T20 all rounder for England. Still wouldn't have him anywhere near the test side, though.

Brett Lee's batting has really deteriorated.
But some nice stuff from Midge - a reverse paddle against a left arm quick - sweet.

England should try something different- Open the batting with Swanny just to try and catch the Aussies off guard.
Of course it wont happen, though.
