Re: Films you've watched recently.
3 Idiots was pretty good on the whole. Probably the best Bollywood film of last year
Up was ok, nothing like as good as I'd heard it to be.
A Serious Man was excellent, maybe not for all.

[This is Rachel]
Went to see Sherlock Holmes on Tuesday. Brilliant. And also shit. I would recommend it.

Yeah, Sherlock Holmes looks like it could well be a rubbishly enjoyable romp. Which is rubbish.

I see your 3 Idiots and raise you a Kaminey. That was brilliant and easily the best film of last year(s). Really liked Rocket Singh though.

Someone was bound to say it.JGK wrote:skully wrote:Watched Deja Vu with Denzel W on DVD tonight.
Preposterous and a bit "Meh".
At the end switched over to Channel 9's 2nd HD channel Go! and Talledega Nights was on. Funny show.
I'm pretty sure I've seen that.

Frost/Nixon is simply brilliant
Plus the girl who plays Frost's "friend". I will have to steal a term from LLL to describe her, "hot as an oven"
Just type in Caroline Cushing into Google images. Her real name is Rebecca Hall

Re: Films you've watched recently.
Saw Shutter Island at the cinema the other day. I thought it was excellent. Anyone else seen it?
Downloaded Inglorious Basterds and A Prophet as well. Looking forward to both.
And I still haven't seen a 3D film yet. Can't bring myself to watch Avatar. Might give Alice in Wonderland a go, though I'm wary of Tim Burton's propensity for weirdness just for the sake of weirdness. I like purposeful weirdness. Like Terry Gil......... No! I refuse to give that dratted caretaker the opportunity to wheel out his story.

Re: Films you've watched recently.
Two Days in Paris - surprisingly good.
Julie Delpy write it, directed it, co-produced it, co-edited it, wrote much of the soundtrack, sang the song over the clsoing credits, and even drafted in her real-life parents as her characer's parents (mind you, both actors/directors) .... and still it was very funny in places. Nicely observed, too.

Allegedly responsible for the break-up of Kate Winslet's marriage:
"Kate Winslet tired of Sam Mendes' closeness to young actress Rebecca Hall"

I think Evil Dead 2 was probably better, but only just. Most people seem to think Evil Dead 2 is miles better but I also thought Army of Darkness was great.

Re: Films you've watched recently.
AVATAR 3 times, would see it at IMAX Waterloo again if it weren't restricted to one show, 23.45!
Lovely Bones, sad movie.
The Box, weird movie, bizarre concept.
Looking forward to Shutter Island, heard it's a very good psychological thriller and DiCaprio is amazing.

Try Alice in Wonderland on 2D, and then only if you have to. Really disappointing film...

Finally got round to the new Star Trek.
Not bad, was that a one off or the first of many?

I think so yeah, I wasn't a big fan of it myself, but then I've never really been into Star Trek.JKLever wrote:Finally got round to the new Star Trek.
