Re: Films you've watched recently.
Toy Story 3. Brilliant from start to finish. Made me laugh, made me frightened, nearly made me cry for the first time in a cinema since Deep Impact.
Are the Toy Story films the best film trilogy of all time? I would say yes. Each of them is near perfect.
Back to the Future or perhaps Star Wars come close but they're not as perfect. If anyone says Lord of the Rings I'm likely to angry pirate them into the ground.

"... since Deep Impact"?
You big girl. What a load of sh!t that movie was. Or was that why you were tearing up - at having paid to see it.
Back to the Future left too long between the first and second (and third, which was shot back-to-back with the second) films. The tone and general "feel" of the original seemed to get lost along the way (perhaps in a different time-line... Great Scott!). Still insanely watchable, though.
Star Wars becomes sh!tter with every passing year I move away from my fifth birthday.
There are no great trilogies. Not since Police Academy invalidated its position by making a fourth installment...

I'll Deep Impact the leper above who mentioned Lord of the Rings. A dreary movie where some dwarf walks, looks weary and a battle happens, then he walks about a bit more, wears a pained expression and another soporific CGI battle takes place. Repeat this three time. A drudge-laden waste of time. Begone.
And Deep Impact > Armageddon. Watch it again and try not to cry when the nice old man in space reads Moby Dick and can't say bye to his family before he blows himself up saving the world. Have you no heart Dello? HAVE YOU NO HEART?????!!!

Ain't that the truth. I used to beat people up in the playground who dissed it, now it turns out 30 years later they were right. Barstewards...

Re: Films you've watched recently.
There's nothing wrong with Star Wars, the problem is that it reminds old people how old they are. Not that Star Wars is great or anything - some people take it too seriously. It's supposed to be a bit of a Western in space with light swords. I think. It was ruined more by doubling up the trilogy than anything else. The originals were okay. I can still enjoy Star Wars. I think I can still enjoy it because, in spite of everything, modern cineman has regressed behind that kind of quality. If it isn't a re-boot it's a sequel or a prequel nowadays. Or else it's an attempt by a wannabe director to show how epicly creative and nouveau they are.

Everything is > Armageddon. Including testicular cancer.
Michael Bay is some sort of reverse genius - how is it even possible to make a movie that bad?
Re: Films you've watched recently.
TS3 was great. Best of the three, not often that happens. But Deep Impact? FFS.Lara Lara Laughs wrote:Toy Story 3. Brilliant from start to finish. Made me laugh, made me frightened, nearly made me cry for the first time in a cinema since Deep Impact.
I got free tickets to it. And still nearly cried at it being two hours or so of my life I wasn't getting back.Dello wrote:"... since Deep Impact"?

That would be tantamount to watching a video of 'Boycott's career highlights'.Lara Lara Laughs wrote:And Deep Impact > Armageddon. Watch it again...
At least Armageddon had Liv Tyler. Deep Impact had Tea Leoni.Dello wrote:Everything is > Armageddon. Including testicular cancer.

i like Bruce Willis when he's nottaking a movie or a role too seriously. Armageddon was the perfect movie for him.

Inception is the best CNolan film yet. And that's saying something.

Anyone seen the Facebook film? I saw it the other day and it was brilliant. Way better than expected. And a totally unexpected amount of laughs throughout. Fantastic comedy/drama.

I'm so anti-Facebook I can't even watch a film about it incase I'm somehow infected by the social networking Aids.
Re: Films you've watched recently.
I recently watched The Invention of Lying and Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
TIOL had a great concept. Typical shrewd, Gervais. However, the execution was a little average. Not a bad film though.

Gervais can't make films. They're all rubbish. And Extras was pretty dud too, frankly.
12 episodes of The Office. That's his legacy.

Saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind the day before yesterday. Brilliant film.
And disconcerting because the Jim Carrey character was creepily like what I am in 'real life'.
