I would impart a few home truths along the lines of him being grossly unprofessional in turning up to last Winter's tours by being so under-cooked.

Then I would pick him for the tour to SA and see how he pulls up in the warm-up games. If he is similarly under-prepared, then it's back to the UK on the first available flight.
