Re: The Ntini conundrum
The bottom line is that if FIFA ruled cricket, SA, Sri Lanka and Pakistan would be thrown out.

I asked everyone in South Africa. Everyone. Consensus. 74% said 'yep, cherries are f*cking massive'. 12 people said 'Ntini? Well. Not sure. Probably not. George? Hmmph!'. The rest told be to go f*ck myself.
Re: The Ntini conundrum
Well this is now settled. Smith's said that Ntini will definitely be playing.

Yep. But even if Steyn is fit, Ntini will play apparently:

Don't try and assuage my intimation - you haven't got a f*cking shred. You wrote that article yourself, bastard.
Re: The Ntini conundrum
I'm most insulted you think my writing skills are so poor that I've been given a gig on Crockinfo, you bastard.

Re: The Ntini conundrum
It looks like Ntini is going the way of Gillespie in his latter years and he'll just keep plugging away a sad parody of his former self until someone is compelled to pull the plug.

^^ ; Sad parody'...Sounds like Ian Bell to me.
Except that Bell had no 'former self'.

Re: The Ntini conundrum
Not like Boycott to hit the right note, but there you go:
"As for their most experienced player, Makhaya Ntini, he is not the force he used to be. He was outbowled by De Wet. Sport is harsh – you have to pick on ability and can't be ruled by emotion. There is no shame in admitting that time is catching up with you.
Ntini has been a fantastic standard-bearer. He has opened up the game to millions of black cricketers with his talent, determination and infectious energy. He has become an iconic figure, and the first successful black cricketer in South Africa.
Until apartheid was dismantled, cricket was a whites-only game. He has fired the imagination and ambition of millions of his countrymen who now want to play cricket. That is his legacy far more than the number of wickets he has taken. "
Well said though.

Vic Marks talks here of the problems posed by Ntini's dreadful form.

Ntini still needs 10 wickets for his 400 test wickets. He may not get there at this rate.

And SA's chances will continue to go down the gurgler while he labours towards it.;
He's taken 13 wickets at 54 in the past year or so.
Players shouldn't be nursed towards a milestone.

especially as Brett Lee has cheaped the once honorable milestone of reaching 300 wickets

Re: The Ntini conundrum
I prefer to look on the bright side. Ntini may well reach 400 wickets. He'll be the worst bowler to get there. Lee won't get that far, so there won't be any dispute over which is worse.

Aye, Bung has pinged his last bouncer.
Congrats to M'kaya on a great career, 400 wickets or no.

Like Bob Willis against WI in 1984. You have to know when to quit while you're ahead, as Lillee and the TGMs did.

If Ntini's got any sense, he'll see the writing on the wall and retire to save himself from the indignity of being dropped.
