fair comment Bas. AD was commentating on the game and said one day you realise there is no gas left in the tank and know it is time to go. Polly realised the same thing, hope Ntini does.

So who will replace Ntini at Cape Town? de Wet? Or Tsotsobe?

De Wet should come in.

I would also bring Elgar in to open and drop prince back to 6 and drop JP, but it ain't going to happen.

I don't think they should drop Duminy. He's a class player and South Africa should show some faith in him. England showed faith in Cook and Bell, and it paid off. AB should open with Smith (They have an excellent record as an opening partnership) and Prince should drop down to 5.

This season

D Elgar 8 15 2 892 189* 68.61

Time to go back to the true and tried method of selecting specialist players in specialist positions

But DeVilliers IS a specialist opener. At least that's how he started his career....

Anyway, isn't Imraan Khan next in line?

I just think that South Africa have their best six batsmen playing for them. Is Elgar really a better player than Duminy?

Maybe not a better player but a better opening option.

JP is class. Would be a massive mistake to drop him.

And I still reckon there might be a bit of a political storm brewing in regards to Ntini and whether he retires/gets dropped/who and what colour his replacement is.

The opening problem has to be fixed, once and for all.

We have tried the experiment of Prince and McKenzie. Imho Gibbs should never have opened either.

Well they surely have to replace Ntini. His position in the side is simply untenable.

I repeat - why not van Wyk for Boucher?

Simple answer.

Worse keeper, worse batsman.

Not much of an idea how he is as a keeper, but come on - worse batsman? Than Mark Boucher? Granted I've not watched him much but didn't look that bad from the little I saw.

Yeah but you rate Dhoni as a keeper and a batsman

Did well against England, even saving a test, was excellent against NZ and OK against the WIndies and SA. Only struggled in Aus.
