Re: Difficult Trivia Thread for 2010 (By taipan)
Ah, I see. Mea Culpa, qmy.
lardy's rules are on the previous page.
"Choose 2 teams from each country
1) players must have played one Test and one Test only
2) all runs, catches, and wickets taken in that Test by the player are counted
3) each team must contain a wicket-keeper
4) one team is designed to score the most runs (for the least dismissals) and the take the most wickets (for the least runs conceded), this is the alpha team ... the other team, the omega team, is designed to score the least runs and be the least penetrative and most expensive team possible.
eg
For Australia: Malone, Watkins (for his batting), maybe Manou, etc will make the A team; Roy Park will captain the B team and be accompanied by Les Joslin and a few other worthies. Which team does Hartkopf help the most? etc etc...
West Indies and NZ have terrific starts on their 'A" teams with Ganteame and Redmond ... Graham Gooch so nearly made the Z team with his start in tests, but of coursee was disqualified when he played his second Test.
Which country can put together the best bunch of one-hit wonders? Which team can supply the direst Z team colostomy effluent?"
And you'll see he did mention Ganteame.
And FFS, everyone knows Bracken as Andy G.

From a lardy's points basis (less fielder's catches cos I'm too lazy) this Aussie bunch of 1-Test wonders would be hard to beat:
Woodcock 27
John Moss 60
Slaw 54
Nothling 52
Hartkopf 80 + 1 wkt
Ebling 43 + 3 wkts
Manou 21 runs and 3 catches
Johnson 25 + 6 wkts
Harris 6 wkts
Malone 46 + 6 wkts
Callen 26 + 6 wkts

Seeing JGK appears to be around, here's a topical one.
The Snoozers managed 407 in the 3rd innings of the match in the recent Test in Wellington. This has been achieved plenty of times. But narrowing it down a bit...
Name the 7 occasions in which a side made 450+ in the 3rd innings of a Test and lost.

OK, try this.
What do VH Stollmeyer (WI), Maqsood Ahmed (Pak), AH Kardar (Pak), and JM Brearley (Eng) have in common?

Stollmeyer is famous for 96 in his only test innings and Brearley had a highest test score in the 90s so I'd guess highest test score in the 90s?

Right, I thought you were going to give a further clue.
Highest score in the 90s, another test player shared their surname?

Lordy, that's quite obtuse.
You have the answer half right. All four players had a highest Test score in the 90s. Each of those innings had something else in common.
