Re: Super 14 Rugby 2010
Important for the nags to get that win, with the trip to Jaapan now, coming home 0-3 wouldn't be an ideal start.

Yeah. tbh it's not a bad way to start. Softish opener against the Gitless, the japie road trip done before they start feeling sorry for themselves & a home loaded back end when every little advantage counts for double.

Sure. Do you know much about their financial resilience.

Not as yet but the rumour mill suggests they've offered a former Wallaby skipper a shitload to move south to finish his career.

So can we call that the "Farky Factor". A useless fat bastard in charge?Mick Sawyer wrote:Left that one alone last night, both sides too inconsistent for my liking.
I backed Qld on the back of the McKenzie factor.
btw, Tom Carter's dad must have clout.
The Brumbies should be happy enough. The comp isn't decided in February.

Phil Feckin Waugh? They must have more loose cash to squander than I thought possible.

You've got it partially right skulls. There is someone in charge, at last. As for the fat bit, well there's a whole lot fewer fat guts around the squad in 2010 & the coach has dropped a half a small child by the look.

I'd heard Mortlock. And the Brumbies are reported to be keen on the idea so they can sign Gaz from France next year.Mick Sawyer wrote:Zat wrote:Not as yet but the rumour mill suggests they've offered a former Wallaby skipper a shitload to move south to finish his career.

So McKenzie has taken the "Ewe" out of Ewen?Mick Sawyer wrote:A useless fat bastard in charge?

Any later pics around as proof? This is the "old I've swallowed a Ewe" look.

I misunderstood you tilt on the thing. Thought you meant a former skipper coming to Canberrra.
Mortlock to the Rebels? MacQueen would know better then me you'd reckon.

Re: Super 14 Rugby 2010
The thinking goes Mortlock to Rebels as a marquee player, former Wallaby skipper and all that, gets them lots of headlines. Brumbies get Gasnier for 2011, which neatly allows him to qualify for the World Cup without the pressure of a team being built around him.Mick Sawyer wrote:Zat wrote:I'd heard Mortlock. By the way, why do you fellers call the fly-half a 5/8th? Always wondered that one...

I guess because he's somewhere between the 1/2 and the 3/4s . . . .

Mmm, yes, that would sort of make sense I guess. Though we tend to view both scrum-half and fly half as half-backs - but I can see the logic.

In NZ they sometimes differentiate between the 1st and 2nd 5/8s
