Re: Super 14 Rugby 2010
So, how do you feel about the Bulls, taips? Lots of smart money on the Crusaders. Any inside word?

The Bulls will probably have too much for the Cursaders. The stadium is sold out, the travel and the altitude will have an effect.

Re: Super 14 Rugby 2010
So you haven't heard the classic on-ground annoncer's effort from a few years back during a Waratahs tour of SAf? He absolutely sledged the bejeezus out of the NSW boys. Lots off sheep-r00ter based sledges. It was hilarious.
Can't remember which ground but he gave it to the visitors unmercifully.

Re: Super 14 Rugby 2010
It was at a Northern Bulls (as they were then known) game in 2004. Found this:
"Waratahs act over 'insults'
Bulls centre Etienne Botha tries to break through Waratahs defence
The New South Wales Waratahs are to complain to their governing body over what they claim were insulting remarks made by a ground announcer.
The NSW team will tell South Africa New Zealand Australia Rugby they want action taken over comments made during their Super 12 loss to Northern Bulls.
Players hairstyles and names were also criticised in the match in Pretoria.
Waratahs skipper Chris Whitaker said: "It's something you don't need in rugby - it's a gentleman sport."
Whitaker said while the remarks had no bearing on the game, they were insensitive.
"They would do it as you were running back to the kick-off, so there's not much noise and they would blurt it out then," Whitaker added.
The announcer was trying to pep up the crowd, but there's certainly better ways to do it without being insulting
Dave Gibson
NSW team manager
"I know if that was our home ground, I would be really disappointed if that was our announcer."
Team manager Dave Gibson added: "One of the comments that I got translated from Afrikaans was when Mat Rogers went down in the first half they said 'Get up Mat Rogers, you've only got gout'.
"The comments were throughout the game, stuff like 'We thought this was a good rugby team, go back to Australia you're hopeless'.
"He was trying to pep up the crowd, but there's certainly better ways to do it without being insulting."
Gibson said the team were particularly upset by the behaviour of the Bulls' mascot.
"Their mascot was running round the field carrying a sheep mascot and I won't say what the sheep had stuck up it."
"When Northern scored their last try he said 'Go back to Australia you Aussie sheep-rooters'. We thought there was no need for that."
--------------------------------------
Wish I could find a Ewetube of it.

It were Gold. I did PMSL when I heard it. And the mock outrage by the spiv newsreader added to the mirth.

And I álso didn't whinge when the AB's pulled all of their players out of the S14 a couple of seasons back when they wanted to keep them fresh for the WC. Not that it helped mind
Mate, I have nfi if you whinged or not. There's no WC this year & what the Bulls did was ordinary - I hope the Crusaders smash the arrogant box headed dutchmen.

Maybe he was influenced by the team being New South Wales. Was Smerk there?skully wrote:So you haven't heard the classic on-ground annoncer's effort from a few years back during a Waratahs tour of SAf? He absolutely sledged the bejeezus out of the NSW boys. Re: Super 14 Rugby 2010
NSW were never going to be able to produce rugby that was inspiring enough to beat the Stormers at home. They've been taking the kick first option all season. That will only work against the poor and middle of the road teams.
