Does anyone think that bowlers should be allowed to tamper with the ball legally as some commentators and ex cricketers are saying.

I personally don't think it should be allowed apart from being agaisnt the spirit of fair play but it takes away the ability of the bowler to use any talent that he has and all we get will be bowlers who cannot bowl unless they cheat. IMO

if they cannot play within the laws of the game then they shouldn't be able to play.

FFS. Are you for real?

The ball has been tampered with since day one.

If ball-tampering was banned, then polishing it and rubbing sweat into the ball would be illegal.

There's legal ball-tampering and illegal ball-tampering, where do you want to draw the border?

Biting the ball = year ban.

Simple.

Anything that speeds up the process of changing the condition of the ball should be stopped. Polishing one side with saliva and finger rubbing doesn't make the ball hoop around the corners in the next over, it takes a fair while before anything starts to happen. It's a tradition, however, biting the ball is ludicrous.

illegal ball tampering would be what I refer too.

biting a year ban yep can go with that. polishing and rubbing sweat into it surely doens't alter the leather to the degree biting does or running a bottle top or digging your nails into it. An expert could confirm or diasgree with me here

That only applies to umpires who enforce the laws.
