All over for Julia.
Hopefully Sportsbet will pay out later today.
The sportsbet guy was on RN last night saying bets will only be paid when someone can definately form a govt and takes the ride to yarralumla. form a govt. He also touted his 'who will be the next ALP leader' novelty bet. Shorten opened favourite until people found about it and Julia shortened (no pun intended) within ten minutes.

I think I just showed that I don't always read the "new posts" when Flaming Bails asks me if I want to modify my post.
Having now read your post I agree with making it 2/3 of a joint-sitting rather than just the House. It reduces the chances of any one party being able to drum up the 2/3 themselves.

I wouldn't be averse to a so-called unity government... at least for a limited period of time.
Germany/West Germany has had two "grand coalitions" since WWII. One lasted from 1966 to 1969. The most recent went from 2005 to 2009.
German democracy did not collapse in either case and both parties resumed full-scale hostilities at the next election.

The pinkos and tories have more in common with each other then they have with the little guys so that coalition would probably make more sense.

Plenty of cabbies around - the majority, I doubt would be celebrating christmas - or get the government to pay for an election bus ride.
It could be part of a further stimulus package.

So that will make the first indigenous person in both houses being a tory.

What? Appoint a token darkie to cruel the other sides vote then roundly ignore him for three years?
They must have picked up the idea from Shane Stone or McMahon.

And the good thing is a torrie chick, or at least crazy eyes, is no chance anytime soon thanks to the Coalition agreement.

What is a "torrie"?
Is that some sort of new word that fuses together "truck" and "lorry"?

What do you call the eight months between march and november '07.
Maybe even crazy eyes might've been enough novelty value to at least lessen the damage.

Re: The Australian Federal Election 2010 Thread (III)
Meanwhile ALP's lead in Corangemite falls below 1000 and is falling in Lindsay and well.
In Denison, another wildcard is the prospect of the Green candidate coming down the outside to swamp them all. He is only 1500 behind Wilkie on first prefs so potentially if he gets preffed ahead of Wilkie by the also rans he could win as well. I think though the Liberals generally preferences Wilkie over the Green (which is ironic given Wilkie's hatred of all things tainted with John Howard's evil stench).

But if that puts it 73-72 to the Coalition it gives them a better starting point to form Govt. Unless of course Wilkiie and Bandt say "we are almost always likely to support the ALP" in which case we are back to square one.
