aye. I hope he does take the role. We'll have better government with him on the inside looking over shoulders.
He won't have to make any speeches will he?

Re: The Australian Federal Election 2010 Thread (III)
Sounds a grouse night!!!JGK wrote:Just back from a cracking night at NSW Parliament House for the LBW Trust. Barry O'Farrell was the "parliamentary host" - turns out that he loves the great game so bodes well for when the government changes.
Sen John Faulkner was also there having flown in from Canberra today - he is also a massive cricket tragic who is a patron of the LBW Trust.
I was sitting next to Mike Coward and Murray Bennett. Bennett was totally grouse - no pretensions about his ability but the man bowled Viv Richards in a Test match so he rocks. He talked about the "transitions" glasses that he used to wear - it was his only sponsorship.
Coward was very depressed about match fixing and the state of the game in general. He thinks we need a cracking Ashes to bring the game back from the brink.
Other guests on the night were the very rootable Stephanie Brantz who was the MC, Peter Taylor, Gav Robertson, Mo, MacGill and Hauritz. Hauritz was pretty good actually - he clearly loves playing for his country. Macgill was pissed and not very funny although talked about being more than satisfied with being No 2 behind Warne for most of his career (200+ test wickets earns you the right to be philosophical).
I ended up buying a framed bat signed by the Ch Nein commentators - Richie, Bill, Tony, Chappelli, Tubby, Smashing, Slats and Heals. Pretty happy with it actually other than Smashing.
Damn straight. But that line-up looks distinctly pinko to me.Zat wrote:Hass, skulls would still vote Liberal if they fielded a leadership team of Stalin, Hitler, Goering, Krushchev and George W Bush.Hass wrote:skully wrote:So I guess it's congrats to the overwhelming majority of posters in here who areraving pinko leftiesnot mad enough to vote for Abbott. I think Swan might get told to pull his head in too
Whats the harm in discussing the MRRT at the Henry tax summit ...its a *sh!t* implemented tax that has cost one PM his job and almost killed another ...Swan has NFI about the revenue to be raised from it and has Zero chance of getting it past the Senate before the Greens get the BOP in July next year (who will probably reject it on the grounds its doesnt punish mining enough) ...and now he wants to piss off the independent who let them cling onto power
Swan is a deadset farqwit

Time for the people in the bush, who actually grow the food that city folk eat, and who dig stuff out of the ground that gets made into cars that city folk spend hours in traffic jams in, to charge city customers more for the privilege.

Go for it. Us redknecks have all the guns.
Let's face it the SE and the Mexicans will only spend it on toll roads no-one will use.
Decentralise the government services and reduce the urban sprawl and the waste of trying to keep up with it. That'll do for a start.

hehehe...we need a good old fashioned city v bush barney on the forum...first off - why should the city subsidise the lifestyle choices of our rural cousins...lets import more food if it can be done cheaper...get rid of cotton farms and the like....lets have a Productivity Commission Inquiry into the csts of keeping open unviable country towns...lets remind rurals that mining assets are owned by us all

"mining assets are owned by us all "
...and they are "rented" to mining companies who pay royalties and taxes for the privelege of digging it up and selling it
Maybe we should start Nationalising a few mineral industries ...Iron Ore, Coal, Natural Gas ...

WIndsor and Katter have consistently said that they aren't intersted in a Ministry.
I can't see Oakshot getting one either.
