I've heard Footit's a rare talent.

While Dello is in residence....Scott Newman could have added balast to the England batting,

It's a quandary - which is better: Newman's balast or Cook's sacrifical lamb-ery (possibly not a word)?

Perhaps Carberry should stop being such a big girl's blouse with his "blot clots" and "lung injuries" and "potential death from long-haul flights".

Man up and get out there. Oletta Adams style - by railway, sailboat, ropeswing, unicycle, whatever. Just get there, if you can...

What other options do we have though? Bresnan? Tremlett? Holloway? Saj the wonder horse?

They showed a stat on something I was watcing the other night that India's bowlers had averaged 37 over the past few years. And that has been enought to see them become the #1 side.

If your quicks average 30-33 you'd be looking at a whitewash or near to it.

Hauritz - 10 at 32.10
Johnson - 20 at 32.55

vs

Broad - 18 at 30.22
Onions - 10 at 30.30
Swann - 14 at 40.50
Anderson - 12 at 45.16
Flintoff - 8 at 52.12

Not that i'm complaining......

I was about to say Ferguson has a great opportunity to put himself forward for test selection but he's just been dismissed for 35- Caught Broad bowled Finn, which to me suggests he was out pulling or hooking.

Not any more it isn't.

Menawhile, Timmy P is putting together a typically gritty innings against a test attack.

Good warm up. Would think England would like Cook, Trott & Prior to have a knock tomorrow rather than try and force a result. And give Colly some overs with the ball because he'll be needed.

Looks like the 4 man bowling attack is settled, so the A game will see Tremlett, Bresnan etc get a run out. Aus 'A' v England Lions?

Meh, just try and win the game and keep the momentum going. Cook and co will get another chance in Hobart. Treating games as glorified practice sessions has never worked for us in the past.

Interesting territory we're in.

You just know three of our key players will get inured on the eve of the first test, though. Fatty Bresnan out of nowhere producing an "inspired" spell of net bowling to break Strauss and Swann's digits and Broad getting punched in the ribs by a Panesar left hook.
