Losing Bracken is a huge blow for Australia.

Why are the Aussies only just realising how good Bracken is?

Are they? I don't see him anywhere near their test side. It astounds me that Bollinger appears to be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Andrew Hilditch, the chairman of selectors, said: "It is disappointing to lose Nathan for such a critical game, particularly given his current form and world ranking in the one-day format of the game.

doesn't deserve to be. He's a containing 4 day bowler, rather than a wicket-taking one,.

On wickets with some life in them Bracken has torn through state teams.

He'd do ok with the new ball in England

Don't think he fancies it. He played a couple of games for Glos. a few years ago, and Worcestershire sniffed around him too, bu he did not want to commit to a full season.

In the longer format, when the ball doesn't swing, Bracken is not a wicket-taking threat and his pace seems to have dropped in recent years.

And therein lies the problem, Trev. Test tracks these days never have any life in them.Henry wrote:On wickets with some life in them Bracken has torn through state teams.

Boucher's tour is over, he has a fractured bone in his foot. AB will probably have to take the gloves, though if Duminy wasn't required to bowl you would back him to do it as well.
Evening news reports that Kallis is in doubt as well.

So Jackie has done his "grunt" muscle? That's what he was favouring during his bowling in Sydney.

Great, a must win match and we drop our best bowler and drop our only spinner for a non-bowling specialist No 7 batsman.

Ok, my apologies to Hilditch who remains merely crap as a selector.

Hauritz was savaged by Albie the other night. Would you fancy his chances bowling in Adelaide with the rather short boundaries square of the wicket?

I'd rather someone that can land the ball on the pitch.
Actually, I CGAF about the Aust JAMAODI spinner but you might as well the best one in the squad.

Do you think Kallis will be there just as a batsman?
