Even Chappelli thinks that Perth should be Ponting's farewell test-

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/cricket/ricky-ponting-deserves-a-final-farewell-in-perth-writes-ian-chappell/story-fn67x7ne-1226523420422

I can't imagine Ponting wanting to make a big deal out of the Perth test, though. More likely is that any decision on his future will be made at the conclusion of this series, with further failures at Perth guaranteeing he will retire.

Steyn has looked strangley listless at times during this series but late today was cranking it up including bowling one at 148. The key is early tomorrow. If Clarke and Hussey do their thing again, Aussies should cruise it in. If they get knocked over the chase for SA is manageable with plenty of time left. Of course oz look short of a bowler now and SA has a hobbled batsman. Chappelli was also saying on Friday that he thought it wrong that a runner can't be used for genuine injuries. He thinks the match referee should earn his keep and make judgement calls on cramp, unfit players or fatties like Ranatunga.

That would never work. Can you imagine if the match referee allowed one team's player a runner but not a guy from the other team? (And let's assume the 'other' team was India) It would be a case of "start up the jumbo jet..."

It's either all or none.

Weren't we all joking after Brisbane that Pattinson's next breakdown surely wont be far away? I'm not surprised in the slightest that he got injured. Siddle and Hilfenhaus are the only Australian quick bowlers with durability. And.....Mitchell Johnson. But he's sh*t.

Reminds me a bit about KB and the AFL context when he said during his coaching stint that 'The brumbies are indestructible but the champions always get injured.'

You can call him what you like, t. Fast skidding cutter undid him. Perhaps you could go with "4 x 200s in a calendar year FTB" Cool

Have I mentioned Chappell is an arseclown? Bitching and moaning about Pup's referral. It cut back a long way. DRS showed it hitting top of leg - worth referring under the circumstances. What a qunt of a hooman been.

Was he bitching about it being a wasted referral?

FFS, we have 2 in the bank. The in form batsman in the world is entitled to use one of them with an lbw.

Nothing wrong with top order batsmen referring possible marginal calls, especially at this stage of proceedings.

Australia look home and hosed.

So the big question becomes selection issues for Perth with Pattinson out. Watson replaces Quiney and Punter will get another go. Kallis looks out too.

The positives for SA are finding a definitive reason to shelve Tahir for good while Faf and Kleinveldt look ok.
