Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical
I don't know about the top three achievements but for sporting moments it's probably up in the top three. Cathy would make the latter. '83 might make both, our three day eventing team the former and maybe Makybe Diva both.

At least Joolia hasn't came out and said any boss who sacks a worker for coming in late today is a bum. Kudos to her.
She doesn't really need to emberass herself further

One guy rang up and said 1. Evans, 2. Cathy & 3 Hayden's 380 ffs
I thought CCC lived in tassie not Spivville
Evans would rank in the top three along with the Americas cup and Collingwoods Grand Final replay win!

An appropriate top three as the first is full of crooks, the second won by a crook and the third associated in it's formative years with a really big crook.

Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical
Freeman at #2? FFS...
What about the female athletes who won multiple gold medals? Betty Cuthbert, who won three at the Melbourne Olympics, for example.
Or Dawn Fraser, who won the 100 Freestyle at three succesive Olympics. She was the first swimmer to do that, and even today there has only been one more swimmer who has won the same individual event at three Olympics.
In addition to that, Fraser set a world record of 58.9 in February 1964, which remained unbeaten until 1972.

all true Zat....but most of the Aussies around when Betty and Dawn were around have past from this mortal coil...comparisons are very difficult...I think Freeman's win was great for a whole pile of reasoons inc the feat itself

Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical
h, Freeman's win was a great moment. No doubt.
But even at the Sydney Olympics, a young kid named Thorpe turned up and blew his rivals out of the water to win three gold medals. Even that surpassed what Cathy did.
A great moment? Sure. One of the top three? IMO Not even close.

Re: Le Tour de Pharmaceutical
In rating grand achievements I'd downgrade the billing in sports like cricket, billiards, swimming, yachting, rugby & motor racing. There are too few participants or financial barriers to entry at the elite level.
Olympic medals to Herb Elliott in Rome, Peter Norman and Ralph Doubel in Mexico City, Raelene Boyle in Mexico & Munich, Debbie Flintoff in Barcelona, Freeman in Sydney, perhaps Hooker in China quickly come to mind. De Castella and Rawlinson's world championships, the 1974 soccer players were extraordinary results in a world context. For now though, still in the heat of the moment perhaps, Evans's win gets the gong.

not sure whether cricket fits the bill as an elite, expensive or expensive sport..it still has mass participation....the only elitism in cricket consists of the contents of the brown paper bag in spiv central when a player gets his first dubber cap

Golf and sevens in 2016 and 2020 - not sure they'd have time to include T20.
