Plenty of milestones in the milestone 100th SCG Test.
Pup's highest score
Pup achieving highest ever score at SCG
Pup making highest ever score by a captain on Aus soil
Pup and Punt breaking their own 4th wicket partnership record v India
Pup and Paris breaking 5th wicket record v India
Cot took his 100th Test wicket and 200th FC wicket
SRT didn't score his 100th international 100.
Feel free to add.

Good win for Australia, not a great test because only one team played. Tom Parker dodged a bullet thanks to India's first innings or he's a mental genius who was expecting a collapse and gave a pitch with some consolation for India by allowing them to score 400.

Parker produced a terrific wicket with spin bowling influential on day 4.

India can take some solace from the fact that on the 24 previous occasions that a batsman has scored a triple hundred, his team has gone on to win the Test only eight times. This gives Australia only a 33.33 percent chances of forcing a win
A little bit of wishfull thinking there.

But India were only 68 runs away from a possible tie.Big Dog wrote:India can take some solace from the fact that on the 24 previous occasions that a batsman has scored a triple hundred, his team has gone on to win the Test only eight times. Except Australia still had a second innings.....
Well done Australia. Their pace bowling looks good. Siddle is the most unsung, imo. Always seems to create a spark when Australia are a bit flat. I had a feeling he'd come on to bowl today and make something happen.
I'm still not 100% convinced that Hilfenhaus is a miles better bowler than the one that took something like 5-500 in the Ashes, but there you go.
First tough day for James Pattinson, and I didn't think he handled it too well. I think someone like Hussey needs to take him aside and tell him he has to control his emotions a bit better when things aren't going his way- Very Stuart Broad-like.
I think everyone is getting a little bit fed up with Sachin choking with the 100th 100 in sight. Get on with it man! I think it's distracting his team mates as well.
Well where to now for India? They wont do it, but they should consider throwing all their young batsmen into the team, and leaving out Dravid and Laxman. Great players? Yes. Getting old? Yes. As good as they used to be? No. In form? No. So why not give the youngsters a try? It's been 6 away test losses in a row so things can't get any worse. The fielding would improve as well.
Oh, and Dhoni should give up the Captaincy and hand the reins to Sehwag. The bubble has burst. Dhoni's test captaincy has been badly exposed in the last six months. I'd fancy Sehwag to be a more aggressive captain than Dhoni, and it might also make him bat with a tad more responsibility.
My Indian team for Perth-
Gambhir
Sehwag(c)
Rahane
Tendulkar
Kohli
Rohit
Dhoni+
Ashwin
Zaheer
Ishant

By the way, Wattomtapped me the shoulder today and said "excuse me mate" as he was trying to get into the aust dressing room.
I felt like crying like a school girl. So it must be catching.

I know, just tagging along the BCCI's super optimistic final sentence.Henry wrote:tricycle wrote:But India were only 68 runs away from a possible tie.Big Dog wrote:India can take some solace from the fact that on the 24 previous occasions that a batsman has scored a triple hundred, his team has gone on to win the Test only eight times. So the first time in his career that a few things don't go his way and he takes 1-100, Pattinson sooks off out of the series with an injury........
