So the brat Tomic is coming back from two sets to love down and looks like coming over the top of Verdasco. Goodness knows why he drew such a good player in the first round.

Bernie's already ranked 37 so he's not far off a seeding. Knocking off a seeded player today might have been all he needed to just about ensure a bracketed number for the French.

Which is good news for Bernie, and also not bad for Oz tennis generally because a couple of years ago Lleyton said he'd be gone for good before Bernie got a seeding.

Pretty funny last night seeing Baghdatis lose his 'nana.

afterwards he joked that it was just as well he lost as he only had one racquet left

The Tomic kid can play...and it seems he is growing up a bit and showing both humour and a good sporting attitude...attributes l'll lley lley never learnt

I think he'll continue to do well until the other players properly analyse his unusual style.

Clearly has a good tennis brain though.

he has deft shots as well as power and is still filling out...agree others may find him out a bit but he is still the only teen in the top hundred...his smarts mean he will adapt his game

feck me, Dokic must be 10 kg overweight, lumbers around and loses her second round match in less than an our. Gets the same money as a bloke who may have played 9 or 10 sets. How is that equality?

Don't be silly Mick. In tennis, equality IS the women getting the same money as the blokes for between 2/3 and 3/5 of the work.

I agree Skulls. I used to be a Tennis fan but an endless string of boring base liners using over sized racquet's & glass breaking primeval screams from the women have put me right off.

Got it in one, BD. I too used to think tennis was pretty grouse to watch, but it's just tedious these days.

But to each their own.

Phurt! I thought we agreed tennis is grouse because of the East European giants jiggling around.
