No surprises then, the usual boring England squad announcement! Surely the last chance for Chavi to establish himself in the Test side, in the current revolving door position of number 6.

The absence of Monty in the squad obviously suggests there's no problem in terms of Swann being fit to play.

That's it Steve... keep gorging yourself on f*cking pastries and grunting agreements, I mean that's what they're paying you to do. Utter prick.

Between spitting out bits of pastry, Brenkley said he spoke to Flower who half-expects him to be fit but really isn't sure.

If there was any reasonable doubt I'm sure they would have had a backup in there though, unless the alternative is an all-seam attack?

It's pretty immaterial in England, isn't it? How long would it take Monty to get from Sussex to Surrey? Monty's on stand by, that's surely enough?

p.s. That's it 'Brenks' just keep going on chowing down, probably been up for three hours, got all of the hours of the day afterwards, but just for that hour and a half you're on TV just stuff your face.

So, Bresnan or Finn for the third seamer's spot?

I've got a feeling they'll try and hit them with Finn.

Possible, but the bold decision would be for Strauss and Flower to recognise that Bresnan has lost his nip since last year, and whilst he may provide a bit of lower order batting strength, his bowling should be handled pretty comfortably by South Africa if the pitch is a good one.

Exactamundo. If in doubt, go conservative. It's the Strauss/Flower motto.

We could get a game on. Thursday looks mostly dry. Friday a bit more showery. Saturday and Sunday, summertime.

Onions has done a hammy. Probably out.

So that's Bresnan with a gammy elbow and Onions with a sore hamstring - I'd imagine Finn will be gutted if his fully fit self still can't get a game.
