LYLE ON THE MEND

The fingers of the golfing world remain collectively crossed for Jarrod Lyle as he battles acute myeloid leukaemia for a second time, however all the signs remain positive. The bone-marrow transplant has been successful and he is no longer in hospital, though he and his wife Briony and little daughter Lusi Joy are living near the hospital in Melbourne, rather than their Shepparton home, because he still needs to be monitored every other day. His manager Tony Bouffler said: "Jarrod is going really well but obviously he is not out of the woods yet. He's ticked every box so far in the treatment results but there is no timetable to get back to golf."

Jeez, Rory could barely get the ball off the tee 6 months ago, now he's winning everything again.

That's golf, amateur or professional, players strike a rich vein for 6 to 8 weeks per year.

I forget the exact stats but PGA pros make around 70 - 80% of their money for the year across that kind of period. It's why so many elite players aim to hit that zone late June through to mid August when 3 of the 4 majors are up for grabs.

Dear God, the Vulture has gone mad. Now she's intending to legislate ambition. Her 8 year Education Plan bill will be put to Parliament in the next 6 months. No detail (particularly on funding which she will no doubt delegate to the States), just ambition.

Pretty much sums up this useless Pinko Govt. Long on rhetoric, very short on how to actually achieve anything, other than waste money hand over fist. I see they are saving $15 Million a year by not allowing single soldiers to fly home from Wars to visit loved ones, but spending $25 Billion a year to keep the Indigenous population locked in a welfare system and fuelled on grog. Well played, you roobs.

Talking of Schwartzel, I know that he's playing the PGA tour because he needs fifteen or some similar number of tournaments, but couldn't he get a medical exemption? Rose did that to qualify for the European tour this year.

Westwood was good earlier today, finally. And Shiv Kapur may hopefully seal his European tour card for next year too.

Great tournament at the High1 Country club, Matt Griffin holding on to win by one after cocking up a comfortable lead.

And a decent finish at the KLM open too. Great eagle putt by Peter Hanson on the closing hole to win by two.

Also saw the Open Championship film, good film which thankfully didn't go choke choke and still gave Scott and Els requisite coverage.
