Re: The Golf Thread (II)
Edoardo Molinari's returned, and missed the cut. Bad times for a player to get a wrist surgery. Pretty sure he'll be looking for the medical exemption for next year if he does miss out (will lose the two exemption for a tournament winner).

Re: The Golf Thread (II)
Javier Ballesteros, son of former world number one Seve, has won the amateur Madrid Open.
The 22-year-old, a law student in Madrid, finished six under par to win by four shots.
He dedicated the victory to his late father, a five-time major champion, who died aged 54 in May 2011 after a long battle with cancer.
"My father always told me that you have to play with what you've got, and that's what I did," Javier said.
"I thought about him a lot during the 18 holes and I dedicate this victory to him and my mother."
The victory in Madrid is the biggest to date for Javier, who has delayed a decision on turning professional until after he completes his law studies at the city's Complutense University.
He made his first appearance in a professional event at the Peugeot Alps de Barcelona tournament in April and finished tied for 12th, 12 shots behind winner Pablo Larrazabal, after a final round of 68.
His father won five major titles, winning the Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988, and the Masters in 1980 and 1983.
He also played for Europe at eight Ryder Cups, and captained them to victory in his native Spain in 1997.

Remember an interview with Seve (by the beeb?) where he said that his son was a good player but was a bit too popular with the women, a bit like himself. Something along those lines. Good stuff nonetheless.

No doubt there will be lots of coin-jangling and extraneous noise while Europeans line up their putts, and lots of cheering for the missed ones.
Americans are so hard to like ... the ones that are seen out in public, anyway.

Even more so this time around as their team is chocka with a bunch of bloody born-again Jesus freaks who declare all their good fortune and successes as "God's will".
So if Merica win, it's because God is Team USA.
Although I could see him being an obese ignoramus who covets his sister and thinks guns are real purty, so who knows...
Re: The Golf Thread (II)
European team Captain Olazabal was the golfer who still had a put to tie the US in the 1999 Ryder Cup when the entire US team ran on the green to congratulate Justin Leonard on holing a 20 footer, trampling all over Olazabal's line. It was one of the most blatant displays of bad sportsmanship in golf, and must still burn him.
No doubt he'll be reminding the European team of how he felt on a regular basis.

Bad times.
They love Rory, but there's no European outside McIlroy is there? Most of the Seppo team now is a pretty nice team, but they've got Woods and Zac Johnson's face to make up for the non bad.

So folks not from Europe... Who do you usually want to win the Ryder Cup? Or are you just hoping for a good contest?
I see skulls wants Europe to win (good man ), do most Aussies feel the same?

Good session. 2-2 and afternoon session started.
Colsaerts and Westwood? I know it's four balls, but maybe someone like Donald to partner Colsaerts.
