Re: *The United States Presidential Election - Official Thread*
Just watching the Republican debate on Fox. Huckabee looks like he's basically George Bush-lite. FFS. If America elect another member of the Christian Right, they're even stupider than I thought.
The idiot's talking about "showing Iran the gates of hell" FFS.
And Fred Thompson is no better on the slack jawed, classless, rhetoric front; "We'll show them those virgins they keep talking about". Gawd.
Furriner - Are you a U.S. citizen? Do you have a vote in this next election? Who will you be voting for? Who did you vote for at the last election?
The idiot's talking about "showing Iran the gates of hell" FFS.
And Fred Thompson is no better on the slack jawed, classless, rhetoric front; "We'll show them those virgins they keep talking about". Gawd.

And Thompson won the 'debate' according to the ever so neutral Fox News Channel.Lara Lara Laughs wrote:Just watching the Republican debate on Fox. Huckabee looks like he's basically George Bush-lite. FFS. If America elect another member of the Christian Right, they're even stupider than I thought.

The only one who made sense was the little bloke at the end who nobody seemed to take seriously.

Yeah, Fox is a joke. But it's fun to watch and that moron Sean Hannity is always good for a laugh.
And yeah, Ron Paul was the guy at the end, who people kept laughing at. You're right, he was the only one talking sense. I think he's the only Republican candidate who voted against the Iraq war.

It's amazing the kind of support these contests attract, but yet so many Americans don't turn out to vote on the big pollig day.
Judging by the energy of these supporters, you'd think Americans are into politics. Unless of course they are rent a crowds paid for by the campaign organisers.

It's been a while since one of these was posted.
http://www.politicalcompass.org/test
I just did it and ended up -3.62/ -4.26. That puts me politically close to Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and The Dalai Lama and pretty much diametrically opposed to Bush. Which must be a bit odd for an investment banker.

Hmm, nearish Gandhi and Nelson Mandela. Didn't think I was that strong either way. Wasn't last time I tried, I'm sure.

Re: *The United States Presidential Election - Official Thread*
Romney wins Michigan!
That means McCain, Romney and Huckabee have a state each and Giuliani's likely to get one at some point. Is this unprecedented? Surely it can't stay a four way race for long? Who will drop out first?
Hillary wins Michigan because Obama and Edwards didn't run in that state. The Democratic party say that Michigan's delegates will not be allowed at the final nomination, meaning that that this victory for Clinton means practically nothing.

True! A rules dispute apparently. I think they had their primary at a time when the Democrats didn't want it or something.

I don't understand this one.
I'm totally opposed to the death penalty. Should I strongly disagree?
The death penalty should be an option for the most serious crimes.

Except that when it comes time for the real vote, the Michigan Democrats are more likely to get out of bed to vote for Hillary than for the others.
