Re: Australian Tennis Open 2015
England win first series against South Africa for over a decade, Ronnie ties Hendry's Masters record and Nadal out in the first round of the Aussie Open.
F*cking glorious week.
Edit: Err, in sporting terms anyway. Rickman and Bowie were both obviously shitters. As in the news was shit, not the people.

Rafa is a spent force. Even Vilks might actually stop delighting in seeing him crash out of grand slams- It's not even a shock anymore.

Combination of increased drug testing in tennis and the pressure he put on his body at a young age.
He and Joker are the same age.

I will never stop delighting in it. Did you see his press conference? He sounded annoyed that his opponent kept hitting winners, as though this was somehow an unfair way that the game was advancing, that guys were going for shots and hitting more winners. Such a Prick (deliberate capital "P").

Aye, never really thought about the prospect of drugs but if anyone were to be found to have been taking performance enhancers then he would be the person I would be least surprised about (and in the interest of balance, Murray's sudden muscle growth a few years back also looked a bit suspect).
Federer and Djoko (particularly Federer) haven't relied on brute force so much. I'd be surprised if Djoko is still reaching GS finals in his mid 30s but he has grown on me a lot in the in last few years, would definitely want him to overtake Rafa and I wouldn't begrudge him beating Roger's record, whilst Federer's game has certainly been the most beautiful to watch of this era I don't think he is as good under pressure as Djoko and Djoko's head to head record with the greats of this era compares much more favourably to Federer's so he would be a worthy holder of the record.
Big ask to get 8 grand slams in the next 3 years though, someone must come through from the junior ranks at some point and whilst Djoko doesn't rely on physical fitness to the same extent as Murray or Nadal, he doesn't have the same grace and effortlessness of a Federer that will keep him reaching finals in to his mid 30s (in my humble opinion). I will say that if he wins the next 8 grand slams and also the Olympics then he'll be indisputably the best (although Federer is still better to watch when in full flow, similar to Ronnie in snooker not as yet having broken or tied Hendry's world title record (although equal at the Masters and UK Championships) but when in full flow there's no better sight on a snooker table)).
Still don't think you can discount Rafa at the French (this is probably fear talking more than sense though at this stage as he does look like a shell of his past self, thank goodness) and at 7/2 I might have a little flutter on him to ease the pain if he gets GS number 15 and moves ahead of Sampras.
If he doesn't win the French this year then that's it for him and I will enjoy and delight in every single losing press conference that the disgusting little C*nt has to endure.

Thankfully the Grub got rolled straight sets.
Toilet roll boy wore a faux Oz flag shirt. Leaves tennis as he entered it - a complete nob.

Kyrgios got rolled again but not before throwing another embarrassing tanty. The guy is a serial dickhead.
Re: Australian Tennis Open 2015
A serial dickhead?
That would suggest that there are periods in between his overt dickheadedness when he's not a dickhead.
I don't buy it.

Re: Australian Tennis Open 2015
Am watching Kyrgios now about to lose in the doubles.
Also just saw 4 English lasses play each other with Heather Watson and that Aussie-Pom Konta getting thrashed.
Over my shoulder I can see that the crap Murray leading a couple of crap Aussies in mixed doubles.
Have to say, looking at some of the skill of a few players today, it is inconceivable that they can make a living from the sport.

Are there two more detestable professional sportsmen in the world than Kyrgios and Tomic right now?
(apart from Oscar Pistorius and Lance Armstrong)

It really is embarrassing for the women's game that at 34, Serena is still so much better than everyone else, despite her playing hardly any tennis these days.

Good for my bank balance though. She was 3.50 at the start of the tournament FFS.
