Re: Australian Tennis Open 2015
20 Grand Slams, and every chance to add a couple more to that this year with his long time rivals creaking. Retain this next year and he becomes the oldest male Slam winner in the open era (barring a bizarre veteran outsider winning one before that!)
Now 4 major titles clear of Nadal and 8 ahead of Djokovic, when at times the odds favoured one or both of them overtaking him. They have 5 or 6 years on him chronologically, but surely not physically.

Yeah, don’t think he’s the sort to walk away while on top, if he was he might have done it years ago!
It will be injuries, long term loss of form or the emergence of a new generation who take over at the top that will see him call it a day. Although he could probably then go and play top level doubles for a decade...

He's not the type to leave on top so we'll have to wait for him to go maybe 5 years without a maje....except that's also already failed to see him off.

I think it was back in 2008 that the immortal PearlJ was adamant that Fed had won his last ever slam.lardbucket wrote:Will he be back or is that it?

Since Federer’s first (Wimbledon 2003):
Federer 20
Nadal 16
Djokovic 12
Murray 3
Wawrinka 3
Others 5 (three of which were between 2003 and 05)
Slim pickings for everyone else... still no male player born in the 90s has won a major title.

Seriously though the heat issue needs looking at... Halep spent the night in hospital with severe dehydration after the women’s final. Will it take the loss of a player’s life for them to properly address it? Hopefully not but there’s a real risk of that in both the Aussie and US Opens as it stands.

They closed the roof tonight and Cilic complained!
Meanwhile, how grouse was it to see Rod Laver taking a photo of Federer?

Bernie Tomic has gone into the jungle with Mundine
"I don’t go, ‘that’s Bernard Tomic the tennis player. I go ‘That’s the guy everyone thinks is a giant wanker’,” said fellow contestant Simone Holtznagel as soon as she set eyes on him.

Fark. You couldn't pay me enough money to go in with either Tomic or Mundine.

Meanwhile, Bernard Tomic's pea heart looks like extending to reality tv as he says he wants to quite "I'm a Celebrity..." after two days.
