Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Glamorgan undone by Malan and Harris.
It's criminal how underrated Harris is on this forum. It's like a bowler "we can't discuss" - he bowled Middlesex to victory against Sussex and bowled economical and with great reward against Glamorgan. Both under pressure innings.
Ignore the 9fer against Durham, third in the CCDiv1 wicket list, 25 years old. The season of his career so far for a top Division One club.
Steps up when Finn is on international duty, carries the burden well.
"Oh he won't be in the touring party for Pakistan in the Winter"

The MightyZ lose 6 wickets in 8 balls for 4 runs. Symmetry. It's a good job we'd scored in excess of 330 by that point.

I don't want to have him murdered with a wildly-swung cricket bat so I won't name-check him, but I will say that there's one half of a pair of twins who plays for a County in the South-west, and it will be absolutely criminal if he's not picked in England's ODI squad to face Australia, which I assume is announced in the next few days.
And he's miles more promising than James Harris.

The headshrinkers? I'm on the train to WGAFsville... wake me up before you gogo,
Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Why do they play cricket in Yorkshire? The weather is so dogshit. Bomb the shithouse.... let the rain put out the flames.
Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Cool... so Somerset or Durham go through because there's typically crap weather at Leeds. Great times.

Are we talking the Overtons? I thought Lewis Gregory was the next big thing. Or was that a couple of years ago, who knows.

Gregory was picked in England's ODI squad to play Ireland a couple of months back, so he's on some sort of radar. I'd like to see him making the runs he's capable of making, though.

Bloody heck, is that an official Yorkshire CCC photoshop? That's some amateur hour FB advent calendar nonsense. Why's he exploding everywhere?
Was the only picture they could find of him batting the one where he looks like he doesn't have the first idea of the basics of batting? Is he shaping up for a backhand volley?
Re: English Domestic Season 2015
That picture is pretty much par for the course in the weekly "Friday Night Lights" emails YCCC send me. (This was in a mid-week extra today it's "big" "news", you're blessed I didn't copy and paste the whole thing)

Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Looks like Nottinghamshire MightyZ might have a decent end to the season after looking like fodder in the early stages. It's good to see us fielding such a young attack, with Ball, Hutton and Wood having come through the youth ranks. They're doing okay, too, having taken 72 wickets @ 29.3 between them. Ball has come on a lot this year, it'd be nice if we could find a decent, regular spinner to supplement this young attack for next year.
It'd be nice to win the 50-over competition, but I don't think we will. I think we're too much of a batting team in the limited-overs competitions, which makes it hard if we only get up to a par score.

They are, although Ball has got progressively quicker. The reality is that the majority of county cricketers are like this. I'd rather see them playing than overseas players who don't raise the standards significantly. In fact, this is something that people have been wrong about in recent years. Losing the second overseas player isn't necessarily important. The problem is that some overseas players are just as mediocre as their English counterparts. Overseas players should be high-quality spin-bowlers or good international batsmen, not just an above average South African or New Zealand equivalent.

Re: English Domestic Season 2015
Well, yeah - a shit player is a shit player, regardless of country of birth. But the laws are too stringent in terms of Visa qualifications... just because someone hasn't played a required amount of international matches doesn't mean they're a shit player. If you could get two overseas players who are possibly just under international standard or out of favour with their NSP, I can't see it being any less beneficial to the national side than selecting players who are only likely to succeed in a certain set of conditions.
