English Domestic Season 2022
It’s April, it’s snowing (or it was yesterday, at least)… it must be the cricket season.
Seems the Champion County curtain-raiser, in the Middle East or otherwise, has been shelved for now, though defending champs Warwickshire are seemingly playing a friendly with Somerset (were they second? They usually are.) A few university knockabouts starting tomorrow, as we build up to the important stuff like the second edition of the SixteenPointFour16.4 Cup, complete with its 80s Spectrum game neon graphics. Sure it will help us fill the gaping holes in our Test top six.
There’s a bit of red (and maybe pink?) ball cricket as well. And the good old-fashioned T20 Blast. But the mascot race without Bumble, how on earth will that work? Can’t imagine Blobert charging around the outfield after 18 nutcases in animal costumes…

Follow that, Jack Leach… Warwickshire’s number 11 Oliver Hannon-Dalby takes 94 minutes to get off the mark against Surrey. He did go on to make 11 not out, mind you…

LOL.
Speaking of bowlers, is Darren Stevens finally past it? The pensioner doesn't seem to be getting many wickets this season so far.
Yes, early doors I know.

Nobody’s getting many wickets it seems, looks like a run-fest so far… dry weather the reason, or something else going on?

Stevens and Siddle are throwbacks to when real tough men bowled.
The likes of Trueman and Statham would be laughing at the current lack of ironmen bowlers.

Re: English Domestic Season 2022
Jimmy Anderson surely has that status, I know he rarely plays any domestic cricket but to be still going at the top level at nearly 40…
Most of them are made of glass these days though, especially the 90mph+ men. The fault of sports science, now they’re finely tuned athletes the side-effect is that they will break down frequently, as opposed to the days when they ran on pies, pints and cigarettes? Something common to a lot of sports…

Looks like Shan Massod is a chance of 1000 runs before the end of May - he's 611 with 3 matches to go.

Nevermind, it was Hick in 1988. DGB did it twice (in 1938 he needed just 7 innings!!).

Kent’s Nathan Gilchrist (no relation - he’s a Zimyarpom) has equalled a world record with six consecutive ducks. Surpassing the Audi and Olympic to earn a Henry VIII. Three of the ducks were golden, and they were in three pairs as well…

I think Masood only has 2 more matches before the end of May so he's going to need a big score somewhere.
