After 9 holes
What all this means is that Rose is up to 6th, McIlroy is down to ninth in the rankings with Day faĺling out of the top 10.

6 shot turn around in 9 holes!! That's a Greg Norman 96 Masters-like collapse.

At least a couple of seconds to be made if anyone could hit a decent second shot.

Former National Amateur champion, 22yo Cameron Davis shoots a final round 64 to win the Australian Open!
Holed his approach shot on the 12th for an eagle 2.

Great win from the kid. Arguably golf is our strongest sport nowadays. We have a heap of quality players 16-25.

Stoopid Jason Day - had three chances to win the Torrey Pines event in a playoff but couldn't sink the putt.
Playoff resumes tomorrow AM when there is actually some sunlight.

Wanted Noren to win. His first start as a PGA tour player. Well, originally wanted Rahm to win as he'd have become no.1 with a win.
Meanwhile, Haotong Li had a super win in Dubai.

Re: The Golf Thread (III)
I have walked Torrey Pines, back in 2005. What a great spot.
Fortunately for all golfers who've walked it subsequently, I never swung a club there.
The occasional low flying Naval jet (from the Blue Angels) can be mildly disconcerting. They seem to arrive overhead with minimal or no warning. I presume they are told to keep clear during major tournaments?

The Brit Open has started on an as dry as a chip track. The wonderful Sandy Lisle playing in his 40+ consecutive Open, birdied the first. Great stuff.

Goats alas poor Skully.
Hehehe re phone. Will end up buying some piece of tosh. Refusing Iphone, tho it would better link with other devices. I am still cranky with the bevy of kids who bullied me into an Apple laptop.
Current phone is literally sticky taped up, cuts out when I text and crashes when I use the Net. It is like a nostalgia loop to workplaces.

Re: The Golf Thread (III)
Cracking finish to the Open... 7 or 8 players still in it as the last pair out play the 15th!
The Tiger fairytale chance faded with a couple of bad holes on the back nine. Rose and Rory probably left their charge a bit too late but could still get a play-off.

Held his nerve impressively in a blanket finish with some big names in the mix.
Surprised he’s the first Italian major winner, there’s been a few contenders and Ryder Cup players over the years. I remember Costantino Rocca losing a play-off to John Daly. Manassero(?) was supposed to be the next big thing a few years ago...

Re: The Golf Thread (III)
^just the Molinaris and Rocca who played Ryder cups. And only Francesco contended in big tournaments tbf. Between the Molinaris, Paratore, Manassero, Pavan and Gagli.... that's pretty much the main golfers there across the European and challenge tours. Yeah, Manassero hasn't lived up to his early potential.
Quality final round to go bogey free. Great toutnament as well. A nice contrast to the last two which had fantastic duels.
