If tonight's episode is anything to go by, this will be one to miss. Don't know what it is about Catherine Tate, but she makes my teeth itch.

Lets hope Billie Piper gets a much bigger part in this series. Tate did okay, but I'd rather Martha or Rose back in the frame.

David Tenant is a Legend though.

Dunno really - I think she's been recruited because she's a name rather than the potentiaL of the character she's portraying.

I know how you feel mate. I'm the same with that David Tennant bloke. He runs Russell Brand a close second in the 'I'd like to punch his farking lights out' stakes. Come back Jon Pertwee all is forgiven!

I don't have a problem with Tenant, it's just a suspicion that they're running out of decent plotlines - hence resorting to "names" in the supporting cast.

I think the writers want a bird who is not in love with the Doctor this time.

Doctor Who's like a bog-standard sitcom projected against a futuristic backdrop, then loosely described as "science fiction". The only good ideas Doctor Who ever had are ones it stole, and frankly, their attemtps at recreating the ideas of intelligent people are lacklustre at best. An immensely difficult and dour program that unfortunately suits the hustle-bustle that your modern viewer desires.

As for Catherine Tate, she can't act. She can only be herself, and she's an annoying bint...

The modern stuff, I'd agree. Back in Pertwee's and Baker's time there were ideas that later turned up in films.

Apparently, she has done a stint with the RSC - still an annoying bint though
