I thought Kaif would have made a very good test player when he came in...

I still have faith Yuvraj will, so I won't go there yet.

I predicted that after the initial season hype and euphoria the IPL will come down to earth due to fans struggling with loyalties. Based on the first season response that could be a monumentally bad call.

In fact I would love to be able to confess on this thread.

But non of the blokes i'm championing will ever get a go, due to dreadful 'one-eyed' sleectors.

Mal Loye - said he would perform. But, considering I did add that the Aussie pitches wouldn't suit his style and that he only got a handful of games I'm hardly shamed.

I apparently said that Glenn McGrath was finished about 3 years before he was finished. Still don't think I did.

I will categorically state here that if Mitchell Johnson doesn't learn to swing the ball then he will be an up and down merchant with a bit of pace!

I was on the Mal Loye boat as well. hardly ahd a chance to make us look stupid Dan though!

Aye, swat I mean. Sawn off twice, actually did something in his last game, then dumped. Never mind.

In 1981 I thought Australia had Botham finished and the Headingley Test wrapped up. In another game not long afterwards I confidently stated that such disasters (miracles) couldn't possibly happen again. I also thought Healy would never make it as a Test keeper. Anthony Stuart, Tom Moody, Chris Matthews, and Andrew Zesers all looked like future 'stars' early on, so I was very wrong there several times as well.

On the plus side, sometime back around 1996 a good mate of mine bet me that Michael di Venuto would be a great Test player for Australia, and Ponting wouldn't. I think I'm safe now.

I said Vaughan wouldn't score any centuries in the series, he only scored one so basically I am correct.

As I recall I said on C4 that if 'Forrest Gump' ever won a match for Australia I'd eat a cricket bat.

He won MOM in his first Test.

Like a few other Australians, Clark and Symonds.

Although, like Pontoon, still reckon Symonds is living on borrowed time. He's actually been out about 10 times more than the scorecards say.

Boeta, Ganga and of course Ramps...

I'm another who thought Symonds would struggle. At best I felt he would average mid30s with the bat & mid40s with the ball. At the moment, it's the the other way around.

I also had some stoopid idea that Peter Taylor would have a successful test career. That one didn't work out too well.

Not just Flintoff - the whole side. "Trescothick is shit, he won't be able to buy a run". "Harmison won't make our batsmen hop around, we're used to bowlers like that", "Hoggard's a trundler" etc. etc. "Your team are shite".

I tend to get individuals all wrong but am usually right about teams, series scores, et cetera. I've made a few bad calls about players that don't come to mind immediately. Talent's a pretty fickle thing so it's not that surprising.
