Well I hope Krejza does not get near the team. And I think McGain would do an OK job. Casson should have been in though.
But we won last time when our quicks did most of the winning for us. And I think our batting is stronger. Whereas I think India are a worse team overall than they were last time.
So I don't know why everyone is so doom and gloom. We have as good of a chance as we ever have.
Very good analysis!
I don't have any idea about Krejza or other newcomers but the rest of the department is solid while Indian players are woefully out of sorts, as was evident from the SL series. I don't think Indian batsmen will magically gain form and Kumble will magically gain his lost touch! India is a much worse team.

From 2004? I don't know. I remember feeling distinctly unhappy with the teams and performances.

Well not much worse......
I think it will be evenly matched. Certainly no reason for either team to feel they can't win it.

There is no way Australia is going to think that they can't win. It is not in their mindset. Instead, I suppose the newcomers and other established players who are yet to play India will be fired up to proved themselves and emulate what the previous team with all time great players did.
And believe me, the Indians are terribly out of sorts. I just don't know how they'll perform!

Re: Squad for Aussie tour of India
I feel both teams are worse than the last time the last series played in India. India probably have slightly better chance this time.
India's probable starting line-up:
Sehwag
Gambhir
Dravid
Laxman
Tendulkar
Ganguly/Kaif/Badrinath/Raina/Rohit/Whoever
+Dhoni
*Kumble
Harbi
Zaheer
Ishanth
Really want Laxman at #3 or #4. He's not good playing with the tail. And he seems to be in better touch among the 4 middle order batsmen. And he plays well against Aus.
Probably replace one of Kumble or Harbi, whoever has poor 1 or 2 tests, with Chawla/Mishra.
Aus probable starting line-up:
Hayden
Jacques
*Ponting
Hussey
Clarke
Watson / Katich
+Haddin
Lee
Johnson
S Clark
McGain

Re: Squad for Aussie tour of India
australia's chances depend a lot on lee on this tour. i think australia's batting should do fairly well, esp considering the grounds offered. india's banker should be delhi, but we all know what happened with australia's banker on india's tour
both teams are not as good as they were in 2001-2004, but i cant imagine india being in as poor form as they were in 2004. the only player who i can see in worse form is kumble. besides him our bowling looks stronger
i cant wait for the first ball - that bhajji bowls to ponting

Australians have too many left handers in their batting line up and all our bowlers are poor against lefties.
Let us see what happens!

Looking at the line-ups, the bowling from India actually doesn't look all that bad. Just need the 2 pacers to really get some swing going with the new ball.

I'm hoping Gump has a good series. I think the Indians under-rate him. And if ever Aus needs Midge to step up, it's on this tour.
Congrats to McGain. I hope it doesn't end in tears.

Congrats to McGain. I hope it doesn't end in tears.
Warne said that McGain was the best spinner in Australia at the moment. We may get to watch him play in the A one-dayers. Is he there in the team or is going back?

Don't know if it's been said on this thread but "neutral umpires".

My problem is Lee. I just don't know if he'll cope with the weight of expectation, the unfriendly wickets and his personal life. Someone will have to step up.

According to new services tonight the tour is now in jeopardy with CSA taking advice from security forces before announcing a decision.

There was probably never any doubt as the shopping is better in India than Pakistan.

Tend to agree about Gump but worried about Midge a bit. Watto will start at six over Fleas.
Fleas could get Hatties job if he fails in the first couple. Lee will do OK he has ticker.
