Even with 113% import duty, a Porsche 911 costs about the same as in Britain.

If it wasn't for the fact that the average Indian earns 8.37% of what the average Britain does that would be worth gloating about.

The population of above-average Indians who can do that is inching closer to the entire population of US. So technically speaking there are many Indians who have the purchasing power to park a Porsche in their parking lot.
One tiny hitch though is that Porsche has pretty low ground clearance, so most Indians look towards the SUV because of road conditions.
Another fact is that Porsche is opening its first assembling plant outside EU in India. That should say something.

Good for them. They can all look big man Matt Prior in the eye and not feel a sense of inferiority.
Re: Ind v Pak, T20 WC FINAL, Johannesburg, 24th Sept
they never had a 'sense of inferiority' when they looked into the eyes of 'that man'.
I think it is Pietersen who uttered somethin about Porsches.

Aye.
Helluva cheaper to assemble in India than in Germany.

Bull .. they have the same prices everywhere. Just convert Euros in Rupees.
And they are just piggybacking on VW's assembling plant and not setting up anything of their own. But nevertheless ...

gdp per capita is 2% not 8.37%
the carrera in india is around $157,000. in the uk it is for around $125,000. so its cheaper in the uk

But Matt Prior is a big man isn't he? I mean he's not afraid of anyone. I bet he drives a big car.

Also, it appears that mindless BCCI officials and Maharashtra politicians are busy hogging the limelight in the function orgainsed to felicitate Twenty20 champs at Wankhede. Only Dhoni was seated in the front row alongwith BCCI officials and politicians, while rest other players were seated in the second row.
Not BCCI, personal gift by Modi.

But the number of those, in India, who cannot afford even the paint on a corgi model of a motor rikshaw is, probably, considerably more than twice US's population!

Dhoni was very impressive too, and we've found a good young batsman, Rohit Sharma. Let us hope that he blossoms in the One day format and then the longer version of the game, test cricket too.
Pathan was very impressive, though he hasn't bowled as yet with the new ball. His speed was really surprising against Australia. Yuvraj was fabulous, Gambhir was consistent, RP Singh was fantastic and even Sree was superb vs Australia.
Hope we have enough talent for the future!!
I know what you're saying, but you have to acknowledge the fact that English isn't his first language and when he said 'I want to thank the muslims around the world' I think he probably meant all the Pakistanis around the world. Also, it's the month of Ramadan and people were praying for Pakistan to do well, so it could possibly be a reference to that.
Anyway, I'll give him the benefit of doubt. Pakistani players shouldn't give interviews in English, they get misinterpreted far too many times.
He was most probably thinking about Ramzan and Muslims around the world fasting, not reasoning that 'all Muslims' follow cricket and support Pakistan. Many people have used the world stage to comment on something other than what that stage was offered for, in most cases harmless and inoffensive. If you're offended by what was said on Monday - tough!

You're entitled to your opinion.
Mine is that he meant no genuine offence. If everyone verbally/textually tread on eggshells for fear of offending others, no one would speak or write. No matter who you are, and what you say or write, you'll offend some - deal with it.

hilarious
"No matter who you are, and what you say or write, you'll offend some"
thats original. how come no other speech throughout the tournament or indeed in any past world cup comes even close to this one in being offensive to so many?

Re: Ind v Pak, T20 WC FINAL, Johannesburg, 24th Sept
A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear." - Marcus Tullius Cicero, 42 BC

Rhetorical question: how many of those "so many" give a hoot about the plight of Dalits in India, indeed that large number of Indians who do not have your opportunity to find hilarity on a cyberspace forum? Get real, there are really offensive things in this world such as innocent women murdered in the name of 'honour', the stock-piling of biological/chemical weapons for 'benign purposes' and starving children in Africa.

By your own logic filo, what someone finds offensive is purely that person's business. That someone doesn't feel that all those things you've mentioned are offensive (or if they do, don't go talking about it on a cricket forum), does not mean they don't have the right to get offended by Shoaib Malik's statement. To each its own offensiveness scale...

What we have here is the ultimate Islamist argument:
it is then supposed to be equal-equal.
if you point out that their fly is open, they will point back that your shirt is torn.
it is then supposed to be equal-equal.
