Kemar Roach is obviously the next in line.

I have a feeling this tour is going to see the "death or glory" Pietersen personality turned up to eleven.
Could be great, could be ridiculous.

I reckon Cook will find his Century form on this tour, if not on this then the Last Test in the Ashes and will eventually have a similar Strauss golden tour in South Africa.
1 down 2 to go!

I also rate Fidel Edwards and Jerome Taylor has shown some promise in New Zealand. But isn't there anyone better than Daren Powell? Who are the other pace bowlers in WI Domestic cricket who are close to selection?
I think WI would be better served picking a tall, hit the deck style bowler in the mould of (but obviously not as good as) Ambrose or Garner in the past. Edwards is short and slingy, Powell shortish and (I think) Taylor is no taller than 6 ft too? We saw on the last series how lethal Harmison was at Sabina Park when the cracks had opened causing variable bounce in the second innings. Anyone to fit this description?
The problem is that the contenders have not played very much FC cricket at all, or are very injury prone. Kemar Roach is the most exciting in terms of raw talent, and he will be selected as soon as he gets rid of his no-ball problem. Unfortunately he has just gone off the field in the middle of his over, so it looks like he might miss the A team match. Given that one of the other main contenders with express pace, Nelson Pascal, is also injured. Brandon Bess is very fast and very tall, but he has no success in Fc cricket and has got an A team pick on pure potential. Lionel Baker seems to be the 1st in line to replace Powell, which is inexplicable as he is a medium pacer who doesn't really move the ball around much and has an awful FC record. Ah well.
Tbh, I would pick Darren Sammy over Darren Powell anyway, he will do no worse with the ball and he is good at everything else.

So far from this game we have learned...
Bell likes to give it away after a pretty 30, Cook can't get past 60 & KP is our best players.
in otherwords, nothing we already didn't know

Just hope Rashid gets a few good overs under his belt. A couple of wickets for the lad will do him wonders, especially if their little knicks or LBW's and not just the batsmen mistiming a slog to the boundary.

The problem we have in judging spinners in our domestic competition is that they don't have to spin the ball or vary their pace to get wickets as the batsmen eventually give their wickets away after a few dot balls.
ESPECIALLY players from the Leeward Islands (worryingly, Runako Morton is by far the best of them). So Rashid may not have to get people caught at slip to take wickets in this match.

Anyone from England who can play a bit?
KP and Ace aside, it has been a typically English effort; Prior gone and 319/6 against a pub side (no disrespect intended). Will these guys ever learn to bat? Why can't they do what KP does - turn up, smash it around, have a laugh, score a hundred in a glorified nets session and then basically say, '****** that, I've had enough for a day,' and throw their wicket away?
Could it possibly be because they're shit?

It would seem that Willet is a decent enough leg spinner, though I had never even heard of him before today
Kieron Powell is a fantastic young opener, and Runako Morton is very good at FC level, but they aren't playing in this match because they were selected for the Leeward Islands.

We all know Bell will get a couple of 30's and no matter what Shah does - Bell will get first dibs in the 1st test due to 'past performance'

Seem to recall Shah scoring 96 in the final warm-up match in NZ but still not getting a gig when the Tests came around.
I'll believe it when I see it.

Has he done it all in singles? The tea score has him 80 off 85 with one four.
Is that accurate? If so, sounds like he's decided to cut out all risk and just make sure he puts a score on the board.
Re: St Kitts and Nevis v England, Warm up match, 25th 27th Jan
I'm just passing shit on from Caribbean Cricket and mixing it up with SSN's updates.
Flintoff's injured according to a guy on CaribbeanCricket - side strain. Out of the rest of this match, apparently.
Edit: And in a claim I shall not believe until it is substantiated, Steve Harmison has supposedly compiled a 50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
England passed 400 btw, no idea what the score is. Pretty decent slog, I s'pose, in one day.

Yes, seems like it's a thigh or side strain.

Re: St Kitts and Nevis v England, Warm up match, 25th 27th Jan
Side strain? That's a couple of weeks minimum, no?
A reprieve for Bell! Unbelievable. He's like a cockroach. After a nuclear holocaust, all that will be left is Ian Bell in the England batting line up, looking a bit scared.

On any news sources or Sky yet? Unlike them not to mince on and on about a Fred injury...

I dunno, might open things up for Rashid. Push Prior up to 6 and you've got as good/better bat than Freddie, then with Rashid, Broad, Swann/Panesar/Anderson, Sidebottom and Harmison we've probably got enough.
It could only be a niggly injury though, maybe not a strain. He's definitely injured and by all accounts won't play any further part in this match - we'll have to wait and see whether it's a strain or just a knock requiring precautionary measures.
Edit: Harmison out for 58 and stumps. Shah 125* apparently. No idea of overall score, presumably 450-ish.

Offering in-depth updates by some randomer from St. Kitts, by the way. I registered earlier but it takes an hour or so to get sorted out. Thanks to whoever posted the link on Caribbean Cricket as well in case you're reading this.
