Bit like the Pies prospects under Eddie Il Sung.

Had a terrible schadenfreude moment and read through some of the anti McGuire sentimentimudges on the Pies Big Footy moment. They are not happy campers.

Seems that arse David Galbally of the filth line of shady lawyers had pot shots at him. Really Attila the Hun v Ivan the Terrible. Anyways it has caused an entertaining shit storm.

Yep, not happy campers. Think many fans will be deserting a sinking ship.

Around the time of the ascension of Eddie Amin, there was another team with a blowhard President about four stops past his station, and a reputation among the rest of the competition for being a tad entitled and over-convinced of their own indispensibility. They made a surprise appearance in one Grand Final, then they made a surprise non-appearance in the following year's GF, then they slid into oblivion from which they are yet to emerge 20 years later.

Time to find another hobby, Eddie.

In a clear sign of the "maturing" (read demise) of this forum, we have not past 1,000 posts for the month once this year (December still a chance), for the first time in this board's history.

The last time we managed to rack up over 1,000 posts for the month was September last year.

This forum managed 1,000 posts plus every month from inception (Aug 2007) to September 2018 - when the count fell to a lowly 713 post for Sep 18. That remained the nadir until June 2020 set the new and current low bar of 514 posts for the month.

Looks like we will crack the 1,000 posts for the month mark for the first time this calendar year.

Looks like 500 to 1,200 post per month (1,170-odd so far in Jan 21) is now the established range of this barely surviving forum.

The Ashes may still break the new mould ongoing.

It's a pity Ronnie Sawyer is so thin-skinned.

At least his jibberish helped create some traffic.

Any guesses as to what name he'll return under before scarpering with his tail between his legs at the first mention of the word "Nazi"?

Approaching the halfway point of the month we have barely past 400 posts.

With the apparent departure of Bradman (Qmy) and the cessation of horrie's posting, we have lost sizeable contributors to this Forum. No

Looks like the Ashes may now be the only worthwhile traffic generator in this place.

Well, as I said a while ago, maybe C4 will bring a forum back now they’re showing cricket again...

Failing that, there’s always the option of a mass migration to somewhere else more active? I’d never have imagined a “refugee” forum would last 14 years, anyway.

When did C4 and ABC forums start? Presumably not as early as 1993, so this has surely outlasted its predecessors...

(Someone will bring up a screenshot of the discussions on the Warne-to-Gatting ball on a coal-fired green screen computer now I’ve said that Wink )

Woody (RIP) invited me to join the ABC forum in 2001 (so clearly it was around a year or more before that that it existed or at least became popular), it then got moderated around 2003. I know when I was still at the ABC Forum Zimmy was urging us to join C4 (must've been 2002/03). Woody finally got me over to C4 in mid-2004.

On that personal experience basis the ABC Forum seemed to become popular around 2000 and C4 around 2001/02. Happy to be corrected.

So not that long at all, then, by comparison...

C4 only started covering cricket in ‘99 I think, so that sets an earliest point for the establishment of that forum... though it was probably the advent of Big Brother a year later that drove the establishment of C4’s various forum communities!

The old C4 cricket broadcasting era basically chronicled the rebirth of English Test cricket, thinking about it... starting with the wooden spoon home defeat to NZ (with that tail) in 1999, and finishing with the Ashes being lifted in 2005.

Wisely they decided to finish on a high and not commission another series. The revival this year had a promising start, but the scriptwriters have got a bit lazy since Wink

I know I haven't contributed much this month. We have been settling into our new villa in Port Macquarie.
