Mitchell Johnson- How shit is he?
Very. I think. How many people were declaring him "The finest fast bowler on the planet" before this series?
Well, I would like to propose that he is the most overrated pile of crap since.....well, since anyone. Complete tripe.
Thoughts?

He's going through the motions. According to Shane Warne, he's a confidence bowler [Steve Harmison-esque].

Re: Mitchell Johnson- How shit is he?
needs bounce to be effective. else loose shots from the batsmen. wasnt very impressive against us home or away
not the worst bowler around, he has the pace to be a problem on some pitches. but since he cant swing it and hardly seams it thanks to his seam position, he will be easy to handle on most pitches

I guarantee that there will be numerous bumps of this thread when he finds form and annihilates us.

Word is that he'll be dropped for the next test for either Lee or Clark.

Yeah, it will probably be Lee. They discussed Hilf and Clark being quite 'samey' which might not be the way to go. They'll want some raw pace and the possibility of reverse swing.

Lee is coming back from a fairly serious injury. The first time he pushed himself for over a year (against the Lions), he tore a side muscle. I can't imagine him bowling much above 90 mph if he comes back.

Well, I'm sure Ponting will take high 80's and decent accuracy compared to the dross that MJ has delivered over the past few days.

Re: Mitchell Johnson- How shit is he?
Johnson isn't over-rated.
He deserved the wraps he got before the series started and deserves the flak he's copping now.
Johnson has the potential to take 400 wickets for Australia (I mean even Lee has over 300), but at the moment he's bowling like a blindfolded octopus.
He could well turn it around in the next match but Australia really need to consider dropping him for the third test. We kept perservering with Gillespie in 2005 even though he was bowling crap and it cost us big time.
If Lee or Clark are showing good form in the nets or the tour match then they probably have to come in for him.

Have to say that's the worst I've seen a frontline Aussie bowler bowl in all Ashes series I've followed. Like a left-armed Martin McCague...

Sounds about right. You can't carry a seamer in a four-man attack if one of the other three is a spinner.

Re: Mitchell Johnson- How shit is he?
He cuts a sad figure does Johnson.
He really does bowl absolute sh!te 95 percent of the time and, the best feature of all, England's batsmen have punished him.
So his confidence is f**ked ... and watching him trudge back after yet another 4 tonked off a wide one, you feel a bit sorry for the lad.... (Jesus, I am such a bloody liar!!!) Even Aussies in the crowd groan when he's thrown the ball .... says a lot hey!
Better still is the fact that Johnson can't be depended on to back up the bowler(s) at the other end, thereby putting extra pressure on them to deliver ....
Clark and Bung (if fit) will have to return at Edgbaston to give the Aussies any hope.

Re: Mitchell Johnson- How shit is he?
It'll be interesting to see what happens in the third Test.
Johnson and Siddle are both taking their wickets in the 40s and, while Johnson's figures flatter him and Siddle's don't do him justice, a fit Clark and Lee are better bowlers than both and waiting in the wings.
But Lee's fitness to last the course must be in doubt.
It'll be interesting.

Depends how stubborn a captain Drunky is. Can he admit his first choice world beaters are bowling a huge pile of mess.

The guy I thought was totally overrated was Phil Hughes. He was jumping all over the place against SA and still managed to get a lot of runs. Never game the confidence that his technique would stand him in good stead in the long run.

Some idiot journo came on the wireless this morning and suggested there were whispers that McDonald would come in to replace MJ.
Normally, I would have just giggle at the stoopid vomit, but then I recalled some of the other selections the NSP have made in the last 9 months and thought Oh, phuck

Aye, it seems stoopid enough to be a NSP selection.
